Peak District recommendations please

I'd like to take my DC (7 and 9) and my mum (77 but very active, walks 3 miles daily, up to 8 a couple of times a month)

We'd like somewhere with some nice interesting walks we can all do, preferably with river/streams/waterfall etc. Places of interest.. And also prefer as close as possible for travel time - so at the bottom.

Any recommendations for areas, places to stay etc?

If you fancy trying glamping Mulino Pods is located just on the south edge of the Peak District with lots to visit nearby, Ilam, Tissington, Lumsdale Waterfall, Heights of Abraham

Bakewell is a good location - near to Heights of Abraham, Chatsworth and lots of lovely villages. You can pick up the Monsal Trail in the town so flat walking to Monsal Head. Also not far to 9 Ladies, Lathkill Dale etc.

Youlgrave would suit you perfectly. You can walk from there along both Bradford and Lathkill Dales (streams / rivers) and easy drive (or bus) into Bakewell or to Chatsworth. There is even a small swimming area in the river if you fancy a cold dip!

You could also drive to Birchover for Stanton Moor and the Nine Ladies and also to Robin Hoods Stride near Winster (you could walk them both but it might be a little bit long for the kids).

3 pubs, 2 bakeries and 2 village shops as well so you could pretty much stay put if you wanted to avoid any more driving.

Thank you! These all sound great I will look into them.

I’m more acquainted with the northern part of the Peak District, but can recommend a swim in the heated outdoor pool at Hathersage!

There’s a really good fb page and website called Peak District Kids that might have some helpful tips for you
