Getting rings resized

This is probably a rally daft Q, but how do you go about finding out what size your ring needs to be? Does it have to be at the jeweller you're planning to do the resizing? Or are any high street jewellers going to let me try on a couple of sizer rings?

I've out off having my rings resized for my chunky fingers for years, and now that I've decided to it i have no idea gow to go about it!

Also, ball park figure on how much it costs?

Thanks!

I took my rings to be resized at h Samuel a few years back and they checked my ring size then gave a price . The price depends on what's being done but it was about 85 pounds to have to 9 ct gold rings reduced by 2 sizes so I think it might be quite a bit more to have them increased.

Hi you can buy ring sizes on eBay etc there are different styles some like a little belt, some lots of rings .
You can ask a jewelry shop to measure your size
You want to take your ring to a working jeweller not a jewelry shop ( where you will pay a lot more and it can be the same person )
No idea on pricing, you haven't said what metal, stones or not, thickness lots of missing info so could not say

@overwork Google in your area , ( roughly where are you) or see if you have a jewelry school/classes they might be able to do it or recommend someone or see if you have any local small business jewellers again they might be able to fix it or recommend someone

I went to a local independent jewellers. They measured my finger, increased them, told me to try them for a bit and if they were still tight I could have a bit more added (I did). Think it was about £70 3 years ago. (Money down the drain, we split 6 months later 😂 but I did get money back when I sold them to the same jewellers!).

I received a family engagement ring and wedding ring, which I wear on my right hand. I went to a local independent jeweller and they had ring sizer samples for me to try on (in fact, I don’t even know what size they made the rings). To make the rings smaller, the cost was £120 for both, so £60 each.

Any independent high street jeweller should be able to help you.

Ours was able to get all DW's rings resized inc a odd 13ct gold foreign one.
