Will ryanair refund me?

I booked flights for half term leaving around 8am. Ryanair just emailed to say they had changed the flight and it would now not be getting us to our destination until after midnight the following day. As we have little kids this really didn't work for us. I had been a bit unsure of the original destination so when Ryanair said I had the option to agree, apply to cancel or amend for free, I just applied to cancel the whole thing.
Now I've seen flights to somewhere better and want to book them ASAP but am worried Ryanair will just reject my application to cancel the flights and I'll have lost all of the money. I don't care if it will take Ryanair ages to refund me as long as I get it.
Does anyone know if they have to refund me? Or do they decide based on each case?

Waaah the new flights have gone up 20 quid since I last checked half an hour ago!

We will lose an entire day and just be paying accommodation for not even a full nights sleep, plus our kids will be beyond exhausted. I need to make sure I don't get exhausted myself as I think I had long covid last year and am just starting to feel normal again. I could wing it if I'd no kids but it would be too exhausting with them.

In my travel industry experience I would say yes that's a major change and therefore you'll be eligible for a refund. Whether famously tight-fisted Ryanair will pay up without a fight is anyone's guess.

Thank you. I'll need to book the other flight soon. I think I'll go ahead with it as, in my thinking, they wouldn't have offered the application for refund if they didn't think it was fair. Thanks again

If they've given the option of cancellation then it will be cancelled and you'll get your money back. If you can afford it book the new ones before they go up.

Clear your cookies or use a different device to check again. Airlines use dynamic pricing, so the more you check, the more it'll go up!

Thank you. I did it and was able to use the PayPal pay in 3 installments! So all good.

This happened to me with Ryanair and unfortunately there weren’t any other flights that were similar price so I just had to suck it up and accept the change. At the time I just happened to notice the time had changed and Ryan air didn’t tell me so I contacted them and they said I would receive an email with my options. I didn’t actually receive the email until about 3 or 4 months later but one of the options was full refund. So you will get it but you may be waiting a long time for your refund.
