If you could be reincarnated in your next life as a man or a woman, which would you choose?

…In a developed country, not somewhere horrific for women like Afghanistan.

A man. But a good looking one!

Icannotremembermyusername · 02/09/2024 14:04

Just asked DH and he said man without even thinking! Me, I like being a woman but the safety and wage earning potential along with the no guilt (it seems) means I am going to choose man. Or my dog as she has an amazing life!

Ihopeithinkiknow · 02/09/2024 14:07

Hmmm I think a man but only because I would be able to stand up to other men and call them out for their bullshit without being worried about getting hurt, I would have to have the mind of a woman though to be able to do that

OtherS · 02/09/2024 14:08

Think I'd probably stick with being a woman, I don't think I'd like to be all hairy and have stinky feet. Be quite fun to have a penis though, but I think I'd get annoyed with it getting in the way all the time. And all the mess 😬I also don't think I fancy a male puberty...

The idea of being a man makes me feel sick. I don’t know why, I’m just frightened of what it must feel like behind a man’s eyes. Even though women are oppressed I secretly feel we’re the better sex so I wouldn’t want to downgrade.

This reminds me of a Ricky Gervais quote…I can’t remember the exact phrasing but something to the effect of men know women are better than they are, and that women are constantly trying to bring men up to their level.

A man but skipping the teenage erections era.

Whothefuckdoesthat · 02/09/2024 14:18

Definitely a woman. It doesn’t seem a particularly happy state, being a man. And the older they get, the more miserable they seem to become.

RickiRaccoon · 02/09/2024 14:21

Probably man because of periods and hormones and just cruising through life thinking you're great.

When my second baby was born, I didn't know the gender and guessed it would be a boy. I have a distinct memory of the moment I found out she was a girl and the twinge of sadness I felt that life was going to be harder for her than for my son. But from just after 1yo I realised she's tough and outgoing and says and does what she wants so I'm hopeful for her.

Sfxde24 · 02/09/2024 14:26

Definitely a woman.
Men are just so competitive and the testosterone must make everything stressful. Wanting sex when you can’t get it. Feeling angry.
Actually maybe I would like to be a woman but look like a man. So I didn’t have to put up with men’s nonsense. But I only fancy men so that wouldn’t work. I just can’t imagine fancying women at all!
Hmm. Team woman then.

MagneticSquirrel · 02/09/2024 14:29

Man. Life would be so much easier, taken seriously all the time. Patronised less. Physically stronger and faster. No periods or PMS or menopause. Less pressure to stay looking young. Unrestricted travel. More money.

Mintearo7 · 02/09/2024 14:33

Man. I’m quite surprised that people say men don’t have proper friends. DH has wonderful friendships.

SerenityNowInsanityLater · 02/09/2024 14:39

Woman. All day long. I love being the smarter, wiser sex. I love walking on the right side of history that men consistently fuck up. I love my female body and all the cool shit it does.

ginasevern · 02/09/2024 14:42

A woman every time. I wouldn't want to think like a man, or have their self centred narrow outlook - or competitiveness. I like being a woman. I think it's a gift.

Frowningprovidence · 02/09/2024 14:43

I'd like to come back as the male version of me in terms of all the other isms, so race, disability and class. I'd be interested in another perspective and the sort of physical power which I dont have.

I feel some experiences of being a man must be pretty crap though.

LostGardens · 02/09/2024 14:43

I like being a woman because I am a woman, if you see what I mean. It’s familiar and I like the look of my female body, like more stereotypically feminine things than masculine things, like the company of other women much more than men.

But if I was starting from a blank slate I’d absolutely be a man. In particular I would like to experience sex as a man. I have had some good sex in my lifetime, but for men I imagine sex to be a completely transcendent experience on a whole other level, as they are so obsessed with it. I want to experience that!

veritasverity · 02/09/2024 14:48

Bloke. No two ways about it.

midgetastic · 02/09/2024 14:48

Man please
Nowt special about being a woman just a lot of sexist crap all your life long

And men get to eat more

I’d also be interested to experience that, although don’t they say women have more intense orgasms? But less often certainly…

Which brings to mind those that wish to be reincarnated as a cat. Cat sex sounds bloody awful, and don’t they have barbed penises? Without Googling further because actually, I don’t really want to know 🙀

Giraffes also have the most fabulous eyelashes

I think I'd rather be reincarnated as a cat. Mine has a pretty cushy life - I could do 20 years of that and be quite happy

I have a theory that only the best people get to come back as cats. It’s the cushiest life in the world! Naps, strokes, admiration just for existing, no judgement on all the lazing about they do. What a life.

To answer the OP (good question!) I think I would come back as a man. Mostly because I’ve already had a go at being a woman. I’ve often thought that some of my personality traits would come across better from a man’s body, if that makes sense. (Never have I wanted to be one in this life though, just to clarify!)

DramaAlpaca · 02/09/2024 14:57

I'd quite like to be a man for a day, just 24 hours to see what it's like.

But only if I could absolutely guarantee that I'd turn back into a woman at midnight.

swirlywoos · 02/09/2024 15:01

I'd rather not come back as a human. Humans are the only species that has to work to earn their life.
I would like to just wake up and not have any responsibility or obligation and just mooch around looking for food and chilling in nature not having to make small talk or answer to anyone.

Yirk · 02/09/2024 15:04

I would still come back as a woman, with the benefit of hindsight I hope .

EmeraldDreams73 · 02/09/2024 15:06

A man. But second choice to being a much loved dog :)

Kinsters · 02/09/2024 15:07

Man. To have a child that is biologically yours but you don't have to grow or birth it...amazing. No periods, noone groping you on the train. I really can't think of any downsides to being a man.
