Starting new job tomorrow

I'm starting a new job tomorrow, and I've spent the weekend with my mind in absolute overdrive in the lead up to it.

I'm a chronic overthinker at the best of times, and have just spent the best part of a year working for in a role that turned out to be absolutely dire so I have my hopes up that things will be much better where I'm moving to but it's so hard not to second guess my decision to move!

I'm lucky to be moving into a more senior position, within the same sector that I'm currently in but it still feels like I'm starting from scratch with having to learn all the company policies, team logistics etc.

My DP and teens aren't interested in talking to me about it 😂🙃 so I'm hoping some of you MNers might have some words of wisdom for me to take into tomorrow.

Best of luck for tomorrow.

If your previous role was dire then this is definitely a positive onwards and upwards decision.

My go to routine to try and unwind my brain is a bath and a good book.

Of course it's daunting!

I'm sure you'll be fine. You did get the job after all.

Good luck!!

All the best OP, it does sound like a positive move!
Stating the obvious I know, but when I was in a similar position, I always remember someone wisely told me to try to withhold any judgements about it either way until I’d been there a while. Negative first day/week impressions/ feelings can be misleading, just because of the change.
I am sure good things await, deep breath and good luck 🙂

Congratulations!!

your previous position was dire, this has to be better right?! And if it's not, you can look for another job (no one can make you stay!!).

No need to 'second guess' your decision. The other position was 💩 this one has the potential (at least) of being great!

Hope you have a good day!!

You've got this!

Oh thank you all so much for the words of encouragement ❤️

You're all absolutely right, it can't be worse than the company I've just left. The new company seem really pleased to have me on board, and even if I decide not to stay very long term it's great experience to help progress my career 🤞🏻

It's definitely good advice to give myself a few weeks to settle in before making any negative judgements. The team seem great, hoping to make some good first impressions (and for a good night's sleep!)
