Grey's The New Blonde by Henry Priestman. Johnnie Walker played it a lot on Radio 2 but it wasn't a huge hit...

Love that song

This is one of my favourites, it's a brilliant Brazilian singer Seu Jorge with Ana Carolina and is a cover of a well known British song, see if you can guess the original!

So many.. I have quite broad (and at times obscure) taste in music.

But I will say this - a work friend said a few weeks ago “I wish I was a little bit taller” so I said “I wish I was a baller”. Instead of saying “I wish I had a girl who looked good, I would call her” she and everyone else around us just looked at me blankly, and I was very sad about it..

I Wish by Skee-Lo. I remember that being played on Radio 1 when it was out and liking it from the word go - the sample in it was an ear worm for me.

I find this song incredibly beautiful.

Oh goodness, thank you so much for reminding me of this track! It's just beautiful and I loved it but I'd forgotten it over the years.

Some great songs mentioned already.

I love John Shuttleworth’s Two Margerines, and Can’t Go Back To Savoury. Cheers me up.

Another hugely talented artist, this so should have been a hit, beautiful song and such a beautiful voice. Anoushka Lucas, My Dark Soul.

The Blower’s Daughter!! I love that song, I did a lot of lovelorn weeping to that album back in 2003

BrieHugger · 02/09/2024 00:41

The entire Urban Species ‘Blanket’ album. Just so chilled, soothes my soul every time I hear it.

I’m fully expecting people to know a few of these but they’re not in experience widely known. Great to see Oui 3 getting a mention earlier on by the way!:

Ben Folds Five - Underground (which I seem to remember was a Chris Evans record of the week from his Radio 1 breakfast show days).

Billy J Kramer & The Dakotas - From A Window (another Lennon-McCartney song given away)

Nat King Cole - Brazilian Love Song

The Kinks - Autumn Almanac (the next single after the equally brilliant Waterloo Sunset)

The Beach Boys - Wind Chimes (they recorded it twice - my favourite is the one for “Smile”)

V V Brown - Shark In The Water

Alice Gold - Runaway Love

Holly Rose - I Don’t Care

Paul McCartney & Wings - Tomorrow

Paul McCartney & Wings - Country Dreamer

John Lennon - Intuition (I only got to know this one when I listened to the Mind Games album a few years ago).

The Funk Masters - It’s Over (top 10 hit at the time but rarely appears on compilations)

The Doll - Desire Me

Appalonia · 02/09/2024 00:51

I've got so many of these! Love this funky old skool sound with a singer who sounds like Marvin Gaye...

Praise by Marvin Gaye not one of his well known songs just makes me feel happy

Sea of Love, Love & Communication and Black by Cat Power (love most of her music)

Les Fleurs - Minnie Riperton

Night and Day by Jon Allen

Same Love That Makes Me Laugh Makes Me Cry - Diana Ross

How Glad I Am - Aretha Franklin
