I want to be the type of person who...

The idea of this thread is for it to be a bit of a Self Care/Self Improvement thread. So we list anything, however mundane, we think would make us our best selves. The type of things we know we should do or already do or have done with the idea of making them the norm for you. Hope that makes sense.

I'll start very basic.

... who drinks 3L of water a day
... who keeps a 2 mo the hair appointment
... who gets enough sleep every night

I did say mundane! Will be interested to hear others' ideas to add to my plan to Self improve!

Woo alert! Instead of saying "I want to be the type of person who ...", how about "I am etc. ..." ?

So much more powerful than prefacing things with want.

I am the type of person who brews my own kombucha and has fabulous abs.

And I am the type of person who really into the power of words.

MavisPennies · 03/09/2024 16:49

I'd like to be someone who is calm and able to deal with conflict rather than avoid it

I love this change of perspective!

Cleansed and moisturised ✔️
Floss ✔️
Admin to dos ✔️
And I will be in bed by 10 ✔️
Love the I am a person who.. I will have to think on that, and soon I'll be adding my intentions to the end of that :)

I want a more healthy work/life balance.

I want to spend more time with family.

I want to cook more.

I want to drink less/no alcohol.

The last three would be infinitely more manageable if I got the first one nailed.

Absolutely! I had a great session with my therapist on Monday when we were talking about that exact thing. Came out feeling like a total goddess to be honest… because I am one!

Is minimalist not maximalist.

Code for I need to stop buying stuff and actually chuck stuff more often

WheresMySupportCat · 04/09/2024 10:18

I am a person who pays attention to my appearance.

I am a person who revels in eating a well-balanced Mediterranean-inspired diet.

mikado1 · 05/09/2024 06:49

Hooe everyone is doing well? I'm finding being intentional really helps.

Doing well on water, flossing, cleansing etc and general organisation.

I am going to add one:
...minimises screen time!

And with that, I'm going to log off and start my day. Have a good one everyone!

Doing well here thanks @mikado1 !

Yesterday I wore my new dark navy jeans, with a bottle green satin blouse, leopard print shoes and emerald earrings. I got compliments all day!! I also very consciously chose a good meal laden with veg and flavour.

Today I need to remind myself that I am a person who drinks sparkling water at meals.

mikado1 · 07/09/2024 08:27

I am the type of person who flossed nightly, lays clothes out nightly, drinks 3L water each day and cleanses and moisturises long before bed. V pleased with my efforts for the week! Was active 4 out of 5 days. Oh I got my early night all but one (and I really suffered as I woke too early the morning after the slightly later one).

Your outfit sounds lovely WheresMySupportCat ! You sound like you have a pep in your step. Have a lovely Saturday everyone!

I've left the thread go I know but hope people are hanging onto their habits.

I'm doing well on making lots of them daily now:
Early cleanse and moisturise each night
Laying out clothes
Laying out breakfast things
Making school lunches night before

Need to get tighter on: every day flossing and meal planning weekly. Water is good enough but could ne more consistent.

I am the type of person who:

Goes to bed at 9pm, is asleep (or at least close) by 10pm
Gets up at 5.45am, has some morning chill time but also gets some housework done before starting work.

This is not aspirational, it's being forced upon by me by DS going to a new 6th form where he has to get up really early and commute in. He deemed 6am not early enough after the first couple of weeks, and sadly DH has gone along with this.

I want to make the best of it, after all it is a couple of extra hours in the day, but I am finding it hard to adapt. If I actually wanted to get up this early I would already have been doing it!

Fakepower · 07/10/2024 14:56

I would like to like myself, have some self-worth, not see myself as fat and ugly all the time and be pretty and beautiful

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 07/10/2024 18:13

Ok going by the “I am” theory:

I am the type of person who’s always on the go and never just sits there scrolling on her phone. Best get off MN then…

Oh I hope you feel better on this at this stage. You deserve to feel well about yourself. I do find some self care and a bit of treating myself helps.

I am the type of person who now nearly 2 months in has really harnessed the gold habits that make life easier -
Flossing and brushing early each evening
Ditton cleansing and moisturising
Lunches made for the next day while making dinner
Clothes laid out each night
Meal plan and shopping list done before thr weekend shop
Bedtime generally fairly good but need an early one tonight
I have massively reduced my phone time by setting limits

Will consider any other habits I need to stack onto these!
