I want to be the type of person who...

The idea of this thread is for it to be a bit of a Self Care/Self Improvement thread. So we list anything, however mundane, we think would make us our best selves. The type of things we know we should do or already do or have done with the idea of making them the norm for you. Hope that makes sense.

I'll start very basic.

... who drinks 3L of water a day
... who keeps a 2 mo the hair appointment
... who gets enough sleep every night

I did say mundane! Will be interested to hear others' ideas to add to my plan to Self improve!

The wankier the better 😆

I'm sitting here with my weekly diary and I'm going to write in the activities for the week, the meal plan and maybe jot some of these intentions down to tick each day so I'm really making the effort rather than a general 'be more organised'- which I really need to be!

wotsitallfor I started decluttering maybe 2/3 weeks ago and I'm not joking I already feel happier and lighter, come join the FlyLady thread. I might only do a drawer some days but have sorted a lot already in that time.
...makes weekly to-do list
...does weekly meal plan
...makes daily to-do of the immediate tasks (call the plumber etc)

Ooh I need to dig out my Bullet Journal that I bought but never used… good call! Definitely, up for deliberate intentions.

Love this thread.

I want to be the type of person who…

⭐️ wakes up early everyday (before the kids) to workout and be ready for the day.
⭐️ does stretches/yoga before bed every night
⭐️ has a normal relationship with food and eats a nutritional diet consistently.
⭐️ reads like 4 books a month (there is no chance of this but I can daydream 🤩)

Yeah, I did this too as part of a Get Organised new years resolution. Which leads me nicely to...

I want to be the type of person who can stick to completing the daily task list I write in my diary Grin

worriedgal · 01/09/2024 18:10

I want to -

Stick to my diet so I feel better for our future holiday.

Keep My nails looking good

Eat healthy

Do exercise 4 days a week

Meditate regularly as it does me good

To be the type of person who doesn’t think “fuck it I won’t wait until Friday” and cracks open the alcohol during the week

timetodecide2345 · 01/09/2024 18:18

Eats salad and dhal everyday.
Has an immaculate tidy house
No clutter

Comedycook · 01/09/2024 18:19

If I drank three litres of water a day, I'd be on the loo constantly

Me too! I don't want to go cold turkey, but I do want to keep it for weekends only.
Also, get my steps in every day (I have been pretty good about it but it really makes me feel a lot better if I take a long walk every day).

Cattery · 01/09/2024 18:28

@Slavica Determined to do it x

LemongrassLollipop · 01/09/2024 18:29

I want to be the type who is more pro active rather than constantly reactive. So eg making sure I log off on time so that I'm not running late to pick the kids up.

Renew car/house insurance 3wks before renewal to get a good price

Actually do the tasks on my to do list rather than relist them constantly.

I did yoga almost every day from January to May and then....stopped. my back really aches now and I know yoga helps but not enough to motivate me. So I want to:

  • do yoga every day even if it's 5 minutes
  • plan food so I don't end up eating rubbish

Have confidence to go for what I want.
Not ruminate over negative comments.
Declutter
Save for redecorating the house
Develop gratitude for my life.
Eat healthier
Push myself at the gym to achieve better fitness .

Hatty65 · 01/09/2024 18:51

Great idea. I'd like to be the kind of person who:

Gets enough sleep every night (terrible insomniac)
Eats sensibly and has good gut health
Has enough energy most days (have CFS)
Doesn't have to frantically spend hours/days cleaning and tidying if expecting guests
Is mindful of spending and gets to the end of the month without being in the overdraft

Eviebeans · 01/09/2024 18:54

Lots of good ideas here that I like
would add
someone who doesn’t treat buying stuff as a hobby
someone who is able to accept help when it’s offered if I need it

Sunflowers098 · 01/09/2024 18:59

I think September is a great time for resolutions. Start of autumn always feels like a good time for change.
I'm gonna start a list!

abracadabra1980 · 01/09/2024 19:12

Have more motivation that it taking me since 2020 to (still not) perform Pilates or Yoga every day.
To lounge around on a freshly made bed occasionally with a tray, teapot, napkin, and nibbles for breakfast. (I sometimes manage this at night, with wine)
To stop storing boxes of things (for 10 years plus 🤔) that I will NEVER use 'just in case'.
To clear out my spare room and make an upstairs summer reading room.
I get on my own nerves.

Hatty65 · 01/09/2024 19:15

@abracadabra1980 If it's any consolation to you, I cleaned out the cupboard under the sink at the beginning of the summer. One of the things I threw away were baby's bottle sterilising tablets.

My baby is 19...

abracadabra1980 · 01/09/2024 19:25

🤣 Why do we DO this?!

Hatty65 · 01/09/2024 19:30

God knows. I daresay at one point I thought they'd come in useful.

And I don't empty the cupboard under the sink very often. Clearly.

I've also donated about 6 bags of shrinkwrapped clothes from under the bed. There is optimism - and then there is the fact that some of these were 5 sizes too small, ie a Size 10, when I am now a Size 20 (and post menopause). Pretty sure I won't see a Size 10 again, even in my wildest dreams.
