Dd piercing pushy after 6 weeks

Dd ten had her ears peirced at the beginning of summer. It's almost been six weeks and no issues at all. Yesterday she said it was hard to turn ( she has been cleaning but my son who had his pierced at 18 was told not clean or turn). It looked like the back was on to tight. Today she was crying and showed me a cotton pad with blood and puss on. I looked and pus was just dripping out.

Just waiting in clinic now to be seen

Always washed mine in the shower with anti bac Handwash, rinsed well, dried with kitchen towel. Never had any issues.

My ears took a year to heal (admittedly I was in my forties). I was told they were fine and to just use saline but I think there was a low level infection. I started cleaning with a saline spray with tea tree oil in and putting sudocrem on them and they healed within a few weeks.

Which earrings did she have them pierced with? Mine (several years ago) were done with gold studs and got horribly infected. Turns out I'm allergic to gold but can wear all the cheap earrings I want to. Once I switched to a super cheap pair they healed up absolutely fine. Can't wear gold to this day! Not necessarily advocating this but something to bear in mind perhaps?

Leave the piercing in for drainage. Or the infection will stay in your DDs' ear and be even more swollen and painful.

The hospital took the earing out. They said its up to us if we put it back in or not. It's gold. It's weird as they look like normal earrings and when mine was pierced it was a fatter one, where you couldn't push the butterfly past a certain point.

We are going to try to put it back in tomorrow. It looks OK now, I was hoping they would her something for the infection but they said it's not that bad, the puss has stopped. It was just dripping out before

Does your daughter have butterfly fittings? I didn’t think they were the commonly used preference now.

It's "pus", not "puss".

Poor lass. Hope it heals quickly now! I think you’ll probably have to take over the care until it’s healed. Mine took a full 10 months to heal fully!

yes 🙄
most kids have their ears pierced at 5 or 6 where I am

Same here! I was probably about that age- and that was back when they did it with a piercing gun in claires accessories 😅
