No spend!

When I mean no spend, this is about personal spends excluding skincare and wellbeing vitamins etc.

I've never done this before but I am finding myself spending money, I don't have, on absolute crap and also regular purchases on Vinted.

Has anybody else done this successfully and any tips for me?

Started today, didn't buy a book!!

Thanks all Smile

Following.
I can do no spend except necessities like toiletries , food and my child stuff (clothes and christmas gifts..)

AutumnJoys · 01/09/2024 15:37

I need to do this to get my finances in order, at least until Christmas. It won't be easy though, Amazon is my biggest outgoing after supermarkets!

I need to do this. I'm not crazy frivolous but some times when we are hungry and too tired to cook, we just pop out. For a family of 4 though that can be £25 a time.
Plus all these lunches at the various activities over the holidays, I swear it's just food our money goes on!
I'm now on a diet and have meal planned last week and this week and stuck to it religiously so that should help.
When the kids are back at school, I'm going to make a list of where the debt is and when it's due to be paid off.
I'm also making a list of activities we can do that are free or as cheap as possible in the area to keep us entertained on the weekends (with a packed lunch).
Then I guess it's up to me to keep everyone motivated. We've got a target of moving in 2 years and I want to be in a better financial position.

Would love to hear people’s success/lessons learned! I don’t mind my big purchases (bags, holidays…) now and then, but my daily spending is frivolous and I could have much nicer things if I stopped spending daily money on crap. 2 coffees, lunch out at work, bringing home a takeaway…

I really want to focus on weekly shop which covers all meals, snacks and coffees. No popping into shops every day and buying lunches.

Spatchula · 01/09/2024 15:58

I've found reducing the food shop from weekly to every 3-4 days keeps the food fresh, reduces waste and reduces my "I don't fancy what's in the cupboards let's buy something" impulses.

I removed my card off my Amazon account and deleted the app. It has helped!

turnthatfrownupsidedown1 · 01/09/2024 16:47

Wow lots of people feeling the same!

I am going to delete my Vinted app as I have just sold a lot of clothes (going towards paying off my CC) and if I browse...I'll get twitchy 😅

I might make a daily list of what I didn't buy...although I don't buy coffees or lunches, my spends are clothes, shoes or bags. Always in the sale but that doesn't mean anything.

Deffo the Amazon app has to go, I find myself on this App more than is healthy 😭

I think I will keep busy and go to the gym, bought that recently too so will make good use of this.

Good luck everybody, feeling positive !

Don't just delete the apps, remove your card and if possible delete the account.

@Spatchula

Good shout, thanks!

I've deleted Vinted and eBay! Can't get rid of amazon as use it for so many things like dog food etc. But I'm going to try and be mindful. I read on here a tip earlier where someone said leave purchases in your basket for 24 hours and if you still want them, buy it then. A good start for me I think!
