Sorry this will be as short as possible. I’ve been very poorly for 6 weeks now and I wondered if there was advice as to what else I could do?

It started off as extreme nausea, loose stools, dizziness, headache/pressure behind the eyes and severe fatigue. Lateral flow test for Covid was negative. No cold symptoms or temperature.

I went to the doctors who carried out different stool sample tests and bloods, all of which came back normal. I kept feeling increasingly worse.

During this time I was treated for BV with an antibiotic cream ( found during smear) so thought maybe the antibiotic was making me feel poorly.

A nurse commented that one eardrum was bulging with fluid behind during an examination also.

Fast forward a few more weeks and I’ve had pains all over, pins and needles in my legs and arms and a uti which was treated with 5 days of an antibiotic. Awful pains in my back and legs and feel generally unwell and shivers but again no temperature.

i went to urgent care yesterday with the pains but bloods and urine culture showed no infection. I’m at a loss as to what is going on. I’m supposed to be back at work after half term tomorrow and don’t think I’ll cope.

Before this I was extremely fit and healthy. Eat clean and do weight training and cardio x3 times a week. Don’t drink or smoke etc and on no other medication.

id be so grateful if anyone has any advice?

Thank you if you made it this far!

To add I recently had a colposcopy after an abnormal smear result. The doctor said there was minimal changes and to just check again in a year.

Was the ear fluid investigated?

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 01/09/2024 22:29

Any weight loss? Do the loose stools happen during the night?

iremembersnappedandfarted · 01/09/2024 22:29

How quickly did your initial symptoms develop? Did you wake up one morning drastically unwell or did it develop over time?
Are your symptoms now over and above the initial symptom set or as well as?
What is your chief complaint now?
Have you taken any new supplements / changed diet / any other routine changes in the past few months?

AgileGreenSeal · 01/09/2024 22:31

No medical advice but if you’re not feeling supported by your GP maybe a private GP appointment would be worth it?
Hope you feel better soon xx

It’s just a suggestion but have they tested you for Lymes disease?

Doublesidedstickytape · 01/09/2024 22:54

What’s your housing situation like?
Do you have mould anywhere?
Is your boiler up to date with servicing?

I moved into a newish build (20 years old) a few months back. No mould and boiler is ok from what I know.

The symptoms have developed over the last 6/7 weeks. I woke up one day with the loose stools etc and the symptoms have followed since. I’m no longer experiencing loose stools.

The main problem now is a feeling of being generally unwell and awful pains that have been in my side, sometimes in shoulder and the last few days lower back pain on both sides radiating round to the front where I imagine the ovaries are.

Ive even had pains in my legs/ hands and the tendons in my neck.

The nurse just said it was probably post viral labrynthitis? And it would improve on its own.

I have had weight loss, mainly because I feel too sick to eat and have lost my appetite. The loose stools were one of the original symptoms but have stopped now. I’d wake in the morning with them usually.

What were your inflammation markers re blood tests? I'm thinking plasma viscosity. This would show if you've had an infection and is the last to go back to normal. I'm not medical btw. Given the loose stools and lower back/abdominal pain, maybe a transvaginal scan. You can get those privately if you can afford at a private baby scan clinic, they usually do well woman scans too. With stuff like this, it's about elimination which is frustrating.

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 02/09/2024 09:59

The fact your symptoms are widespread across the body and moving would suggest post viral in my opinion. It can take months sometimes for the body to calm down whilst the inflammation drops off.

You don't have to.

Thegoodthebadandthesnuggly · 02/09/2024 21:30

Is there a specific blood test for it? I’ve had lots of bloods taken over the last few weeks. No sign of infection they said.

Could you be overloaded with oxalates?

Sally K Norton was bedbound with weird symptoms and eventually she worked out that, having lived on very high oxalate foods, she was riddled with crystals and needles of oxalate.

She has a YT channel and it's fascinating.

I discovered this about myself as I felt terrible and had pain everywhere and weird symptoms. I went on FB group 'Trying Low Oxalate' and removed all offending food from my diet and then the dumping began. Hells teeth! It was coming out of every orifice and my pee was turgid as hell. I had to add a bit of black tea back in to slow it and make it manageable but a year later, I feel better than I did when I was a 20yo.

The dumping still happens. I have a lifetime of eating veggies to account for but it's worth the rough ride to get to the other side.

If you eat a lot of veggies, drink tea or eat lots of oranges, rhubarb or spinach you will have an oxalate burden for sure.

Yes. They have to specifically look for Lyme Disease. And it is often overlooked or not considered at all.
