Grateful for advice!
I;m Australian living in the UK with DH and DCs aged 14 and 12. For the first time ever we are going to visit family for Christmas in Australia. My parents have come here a few times for Christmas but generally we go there over their winter/our summer period because that is when we have the longest holidays and annual leave available to us.
I'm not sure what to do about Christmas. Obviously, we will buy things for extended family there, but we don't want to be too laden down with gifts from extended family when we only have to lug it back. I'm also thinking we might save the bulk of gifts for the boys for when we come back and have token gifts there. I am assuming that they may wish to include us in gift giving- although we have never been a family that sent various cousins gifts via mail or Amazon etc, or vice versa so maybe I really AM just assuming!
First world problem I know. But my mother will go overboard and she's already asking about what we plan to do, and I am trying to think of logistics. We are there from 15th December to 4th january.
Anyone who has suggestions or tips I'd love to hear them! My instincts are to say we will buy gifts for Oz relatives when in Australia, but money or gfts cards- nothing bulky rather than objects coming to mine would be better. Dmother has already she get Ds2 a foldup scooter and she can't wait to see his face on Christmas day which is nice... but I just don't want to carry it back in a suitcase.
