Self inflicted

I have low iron and can't absorb iron very well. Gp gave 5mg of folic acid. I often forgot to take them and when I ran out did I ask for more ... no . Did I get 4mg from chemist ... no .

I have been living on ice lollys and grapes. crisps. For the past week. I feel constantly bloated as if I have drank loads of water . But I have not. I have not drank any water in weeks.

I feel drained and ill . I can't explain the ill part but I don't feel right at all.

The thing is I know this is all self inflicted and if I changed my diet I would probably feel better . I know the answers but I'm not doing it and I don't know why.

I know this post makes no sense. And has no logic what so ever. I don't know why I'm doing what I am . And I don't know why I have post it on here to be honest .

It's not always easy doing the things that are good for us. Taking small steps can help. Don't wait until you feel li,e it. Do it anyway. How about:

Choose 1 small thing (eg buy some folic acid online)
write it down
do it now, or tomorrow if it's something you can't do now.

It’s no wonder you feel terrible, you haven’t had any nutrients or protein for a week. Order a takeaway, something with protein and fibre and veggies. Nothing too greasy. You’ll feel better soon once your body has been fed, and you’ll be able to go from there.

I kind of understand where you're coming from with this as i do often get into a sugar binge loop and i know it gives me headaches, makes me sluggish and actually, once i take the bull by the horns, and break myself off sugar just for 2 days I feel tons better and it's not THAT hard to do.

But then i go and fall back into the same trap over and over. I think it's because it does take mental effort to eat right. As soon as you lose focus and motivation, you just revert back to childhood eating patterns.

All i can suggest is summoning the mental strength to change by just doing a cold turkey full change and WRITING IT DOWN.

So - from now- decide how many glasses of water you need to drink today. Glass by your kitchen tap, mark it off in your journal.

Plan what you are going to eat and make sure it's at proper intervals. It doesn't need to be fancy if you don't cook.

Beans on toast, egg on toast, bowl of cereal for brekky. Just make sure you get 3 proper meals in.

Do it one day at a time.

The hardest thing about any change is starting it.

See once you have one day under your belt - you are going to feel so much better. Start now and feel better tonight.

Then another day tom and so forth.

I think I know how you feel. I'm in the same position I'm taking 5mg folic acid a day and it doesn't seem to be doing anything.
I feel completely spaced out all the time. It's extreme to the point i feel like I'm on another planet. It's a horrible feeling and the fatigue that goes with it is awful.
I just want to feel normal again.
I try and eat salads and fish, also chicken salad wraps etc but still feel so unwell.
Nobody seems to understand how unwell I feel.

You actually reminded me of something along time ago like 14 years 😅. I wanted to loose weight. I needed to stop with drinking coke . And mn suggested I drink 2 litres of water a day if at the end if the day i have drank that water and want a coke then do it. But I must drink the water first. She said I probably won't want it. And she was right . I lost about 4 stone. Then I got pregnant with dd and put it all back on. And not made much effort to be honest.

I could try and turn it into a positive and try to loose some weight. Especially since I don't really feel like eating at the moment it could be the right time

Yes it definitely feels that way . Its very hard to explain . My understanding is the body has problems absorbing iron so even when you eat third that contain it your body dies not absorb it. I'm sure I read there's injections that you can get .

I get you. I think that people just think you just feel a bit drained or tired in general. I don't think people understand that doing the smallest thing just zaps all energy you have . I feel like unloading the dishwasher is the end of the world I get breathless to . But like you say people just don't understand. I hope your OK as you can be. I'm sorry I don't have the answers.
