Anyone else married to one of these?
I'm so bored of it!

DP exclaimed “unbelievable” the other day. I asked him what Victor Meldrew was known for saying. I play grey rock till it becomes unbearable then I turn into a screaming banshee.

Is it just middle-aged men that are grumpy? I'm a perimenopausal, middle aged women and feel I'm more grumpy and tired than DH. He still has a sense of youthful fun about him. I wish I did!

@SallyWD perimenopausal here. Lost one beloved parent last year, the other one has a serious health issue. Teo teens who I adore but are obviously teenagerish. I work hard 5 days a week and honestly I try my hardest not to be grumpy!

Have cut down on drinking, upped my exercise, do yoga, read books, walk, tried HRT, various supplements and frankly spend my whole life trying not to be irritated by everything and everyone and I really don't need some else being in a shitty mood.

I guess my tolerance is pretty low 😔

I know one like that, an intelligent man, used to work hard and commute. He has retired recently and when he has a few minutes he sits on the sofa and turns on the TV, BUT every time he moans about how awful the TV is, flicking through channels. I have said, if you hate it so much and yet you watch it (mostly the news) then get paid for TV! But he won't!

DH is 56 and is never ever grumpy, always happy.

delber1 · 31/08/2024 22:35

Yep a lot of us have one of them at homen

delber1 · 31/08/2024 22:36

A lot of us have one of them at home

I honestly think that letting one's grumpiness 'hang out' and impact the head-space of family, friends or colleagues is the height of self-absorbed, entitled, immature rudeness, along with sulking. I can't stand it and have zero patience for it. It's so grim to be around, like a pernicious waft of rancid BO emanating from the grumpy person; you can't not notice it. Once I've filed someone under 'grumpy' or 'sulks', there's no coming back: I'll always have at the back of my mind that they have form for it, so to be wary.

So glad I never married. My cat is never grumpy. We're both rather happy.

AngelicaSchuyler444 · 01/09/2024 00:01

I'm divorcing my grumpy H - just had fucking enough!

I want a few peaceful years to myself.

Wigtopia · 01/09/2024 00:02

I h e one to some extent, but part way through one of his moans/rants I will gently mock him and to be fair to him he is a good sport about it and does see the funny side so we have a bit of a giggle about him “becoming a grumpy old man”.

but no where near the type of toddler sulking I’ve seen others talk about on here. And it’s never directed at me. Usually something on the news or work related.

Sonolanona · 01/09/2024 01:04

Mine has taken up kayaking..started a few years ago and is now training for some marathon kayak long distance race. He's gone all weekend. He comes home knackered but cheerful.
I pretend to be cross but... Grin
To be fair, he's married to a grumpy middle aged, menopausal woman, who has zero interest in his day at work (which he recounts in excruciating detail)

I love him, he's a good guy, but yeah Victor Meldrew is emerging!

Why cats are popular, they do as they please tho
