I only like my body when I don't eat.

I am 5'10" and around 65 kilos so not overweight. I've always been slim with small boob's but after having kids and getting older the belly bloat is impossible to get rid of. As I'm quite small chested my belly looks even more noticeable as it sticks out further than my boob's.

I do intermittent fasting and love my body after a few days of this. Flat stomach, face looks younger and healthier, and I feel more comfortable when exercising. As soon as I start eating normally again my stomach sticks out, face gets all bloated and tired and I feel sluggish and tired. I can't constantly fast or i'll lose weight which I don't want as I'm happy with my size. Is there a way to not be constantly bloated yet eat regularly? I eat healthy although could definitely drink more water I suppose.

I only like my body when I don't eat.

Less sugar and carbs and more protein and fat works for me.

mushypaperstraws · 31/08/2024 10:25

It's got to be a reaction one of the foods you're eating if it goes when you fast. Maybe get checked for gluten?

TheHeadOfTheHouse · 31/08/2024 10:25

Could it be a food intolerance?

Your posture is not good - it looks as if you are sticking your belly out. Stand up straight, shoulders back and pelvis tucked; this should make all the difference.

LoneHydrangea · 31/08/2024 10:26

Another one that thinks you could have an intolerance.

LoneHydrangea · 31/08/2024 10:26

Also, I noticed your posture. If you stand up straight it would be less obvious.

Girlintheframe · 31/08/2024 10:29

I did a food diary for a couple of weeks. I wrote down everything I ate for breakfast, lunch and dinner then wrote down how they made me feel. It was really useful and helped me pinpoint what was causing the bloat. Was really surprised to find long grain rice was a big problem as was normal white bread. Surprisingly Basmati rice was fine as was sourdough. It was a really helpful tool

Chemenger · 31/08/2024 10:31

Stand up straight. Literally everyone’s stomach sticks out when they stand sticking it out.

Smellywoodlouse · 31/08/2024 10:32

I did a food diary but literally everything makes me bloated, even salad!

Posture is not great in the photo but when I bend or sit my belly feels uncomfortable and in the way so it's not just the way I stand.

I suspect a food intolerance. How do I go about getting tested for that? I imagine it would have to be private.

Why are you tilting your pelvis to stick your stomach out?

Are you hoping everyone will just say how lovely and slim you are?

Err, I'm not? That's literally how I stand. Maybe it is a posture thing....

Although I'm still bloated when sitting so not entirely down to that.

I get you, OP. You'll probably get people being a bit funny with you because you're slim but I'm also slim and I hate feeling bloated too.

If I had to guess, I'd say it was rice, bread, or pasta that is doing it.

Yes, absolutely drink more water. It's a cheap and easy way to feel good and be healthy. It's great for your skin too.

Do you do any exercise at all?

There's always threads like this, very thin people saying they've got a fat belly with a photo of a very slim person.

It's done for validation

comedycentral · 31/08/2024 10:47

Could you have only small meals rather than 3 meals a day? Also charcoal supplements can be good for reducing bloat.

She's not saying that though, you've invented this. She's saying she gets bloated, not that she's fat.

Agree. Maybe do some Pilates to help your posture.

Imalongtimepostingmum · 31/08/2024 10:50

That's how my stomach looks with three types of prolapse.

Do you think slim people don't get bloated?

No one used the word fat except you.

Miggy2D · 31/08/2024 10:54

Ok bloated but she's concerned because it makes her belly stick out further than her boobs, so she looks fat. That's what she's getting at.

Are you on the wrong thread? I literally said in the op I'm slim and don't want to lose weight.

Lots of great tips, thanks everyone. I had no idea how bad my posture is, feel like I'm back at my nans house being told to stand up straight 😁

@Imalongtimepostingmum That's interesting, can you give more details?

OP posts:
soupfiend · 31/08/2024 10:57

Yes you need to stand up straight and stop sticking your belly out

Bloody hell, you picked out one detail and and invented an entire narrative out of it? I also said my face is bloated and the bloat is uncomfortable 🤨

This! I do 16:8 and it definitely beats the bloat (and running every day)
