What do you use to wash your baby’s clothes?

Just starting to nest and looking at getting baby’s clothes sorted ahead of their arrival Smile

I’ve always noticed that any time I’ve cuddled a baby, their clothes have always smelt very similar, but the smell is nothing like the washing powder I currently use. Is there a secret washing powder for baby clothes everyone is using that I don’t know about? Grin

Fairy powder with the softener smells of babies to me, or the comfort pure.

The smell comes from the baby, not from the clothes. It makes sense to use a hypoallergenic brand until you know whether they have sensitive skin or not, but it can be a supermarket own brand.

Sometimes people use non bio detergent for babies. I did for a couple of weeks and then went back to bio powder like I usually use.

Fairy non bio

Do you use softener as well, or just the detergent? I know these are all the most basic questions and I sound like I’ve just landed on the planet 😂

Fairy non bio gives me terrible skin. My mum uses it and has constantly dry, itchy skin and refuses to believe it could be her washing powder because she believes their baby soft marketing crap! Any non bio will be fine.

DappledThings · 30/08/2024 18:03

The own brand non-bio of whatever supermarket I happen to be in. I've never used softener in my life but I'm sure you could if you wanted to.
