FB adding friends without requests

FB has added friends to my list with neither party sending a friend request. I have checked my account activity to make sure (in case I did it after a few wines!) and nothing.

I only noticed this bloke I had dated once or twice had been added to my FB friends because it was his birthday and FB announced it on my feed.

It's a bit odd and mildly irritating. How many others have had this?

I am sure this bloke, who has an ego the size of London, will think I'm pining for him. 😂

This was a glitch a few weeks ago. I think one party had to have viewed the others profile for the friend request to be sent though. Perhaps he looked you up OP?

There was no friend request sent or received.

There was a bug last year OP, which FB has rectified and apologised for.

Basically if you visited someone's profile, a request would automatically be sent from your account.

You probably looked him up last year, he got a request and accepted it.

I've had that in the past, so weird.

That happened to me, I looked at the profile of someone who posted loads in a local interest group and the next thing I knew we were friends 😀

That happened to me last year , a friend of a friend. She accepted, I definitely didn't request her or look at her profile. Unless she looked at mine ?

Oh interesting. That happened to me yesterday. I viewed a profile because it said we had friends in common and the name was vaguely familiar so I wanted to see who they were. Next thing I got a friend request from them, which I thought was weird. Clearly still glitchy.

But this bloke said he didn't receive a friend request from me.

And I didn't get one from him.

But suddenly we are fb friends.

I mean it doesn't really matter although it does make me wonder about the security of our accounts.

Maybe it’s a sign OP - the universe is forcing you together 😂
