Any recommendations in Texas?

Has anyone been to Texas? I'm planning a trip for next spring to visit a friend, but we've no clue what to get up to. She's in Austin, and we may do some hiking, but we're not sure where to start with all that.

Does anyone have a recommendation or two?

I’ve been to Texas lots of times. Some of my favourites are San Antonio, Fort Worth Stockyards, Brazos Bend National Park and visiting a Bucee’s 🙂.

My parents lived in Houston for a long time so often we weren’t doing the big touristy things, but I loved going to little Mom and Pop cafes, honky -tonks, seeing the wildlife.

Dallas is prettier than Houston I would say, but the south has the more interesting scenery in general.

I think it’s quite essential to pack me in your suitcase! So jealous, really want to visit Texas one day. There’s some great YouTube videos showing different bbq and street food places, this one covers bbq in Austin

If you’re into BBQ then a trip to Lockhart to do the Blacks / Smitty / Kreuz hat trick is a must! And Hamilton Pool is nice for a chilled day out. Both are less than an hour from Austin.
