I've just been reminded that they exist. Think I shall obtain a tin. What should I have with them?

on toast with cheese on top of the hoops, was the staple in my student diet 😂

Go all Jack Monroe, rinse the sauce off and try bodge together a version of Caci e Pepi!

(while conveniently forgetting the pasta is the cheap part of that dish and it’s the copious amount of cheese that costs money)

Well, this thread took a (brief) turn 😂🤣

Potato smiley faces 👀

Eggy bread Blush

PoliteOtter · 29/08/2024 20:21

Definitely toast.

Just in case anyone thought that was a wind up

But surely the tomato sauce is the expensive and slightly nutritious part. Once you wash that away, you're left with about 50grams of cooked pasta which cost 70p when you could buy 400g of dried pasta for less.

Jacket potato and cheese

Grim.

You can buy the hoops dry fairly cheaply.

Isseywith3witchycats · 29/08/2024 20:35

Hot buttered toast, plenty of butter. Salt and pepper, Plenty of salt

Good quality peppery sausages

Frozen sweetcorn

Yum

JamMakingWannaBe · 29/08/2024 20:42

Another vote for buttered toast.

DO NOT buy the microwave version in small plastic pots. They are DISGUSTING. Buy a normal sized tin, and buy Heinz.

Quite. It was an absurd ‘recipe’

DatingDinosaur · 29/08/2024 20:47

If you want the taste you remember get Asda's own brand. Full of salt and sugar just like Heinz used to make.

Sweetcorn with sketty hoops is just wrong 😂

It's got to be toast or potato waffles with grated cheese.

LouH5 · 29/08/2024 20:49

Toast with lashings of butter, and chicken nuggets, oh and grated cheese!

Asda make the best baked beans and hoops!

I can’t believe someone hasn’t been along to tell you they’re full of UPFs and to eat some cucumber instead.

Toast and cheese.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 30/08/2024 10:20

Fish fingers.

To be honest, anything other than an organically grown cucumber is probably full of viagra chemicals to make it stay hard longer.

I can't eat either anymore but I used to love spaghetti hoops with cheese and onion quiche

on buttered toast with added tomato sauce (Heinz) ground pepper & salt so they actually have some flavour @ a packet (or two) of hula hoops

or with home made chips

I'm a low carber so I don't eat them anymore 😟 I could eat them
out the tin cold tonight!!

My 5 yr old was introduced to them by her Grandad and she chooses to eat them cold. I do make her out them in a bowl though! Grin

Grated cheese and black pepper

saturnspinkhoop · 30/08/2024 18:17

When you eat the hoops, you have to load them onto the prongs of the fork, like a spaghetti hoop tunnel.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 30/08/2024 18:18

Bin them. They're disgusting and even my kids wouldn't eat them. Cooking pasta is easy and quick, as well as cheap.

Keepitweird · 30/08/2024 18:18

Scrambled eggs and heavily buttered toast Grin 'oopsneggs is a favourite comfort food in this household Smile
