Hi, recently left my DV relationship which was very severe as you can see from my past posts.

Signed upto council housing and I am in band 2 (only band 1 above me) I have not mentioned my DV relationship but WA (woman's aid) have said they'd contact the council to explain my situation. I've been petrified to do this cause I thought I'd be urged to contact the police on a very dangerous and intimidating man who is no longer part of mine and kids lives and I want to keep it that way so reporting things will poke the bear again.

Does WA writing to the council increase my banding?

Thanks

Fleeing domestic abuse does increase your banding yes.

I am not sure if you would be encouraged to contact the police, but they can’t force you to.

Have they housed you? You can apply to any local authority for emergency accommodation on the basis of fleeing DV. If you've already been housed then disclosing that you're fleeing DV will positively impact their assessment of whether they have a duty to house you in the longer term. They won't pressure you to report to police.

Thanks guys. I am back at parents with my children but this can't be for too long. They're quite elderly. Also I do want to be somewhere I know my ex does not know where I am also. I don't think he will turn up as people are here but I just want a fresh start to get away from anyone knowing where I am so I KNOW he won't just rock up.
