Pet sitting websites

Hello all

Just checking experiences of pet setting websites

I have donkeys
Three cats and two dogs

I would only ever go away for 1-2 days at a time with a family member doing 3-4 drop ins per day for pets

We are hoping to do two weeks next Aug in Spain

I wonder if I should sign up to those sites that allow people to come here to help out?

Too risky?

Or I take the dogs by ferry from Dublin to Spain????

We've used Trusted Housesitters a few times and my DD uses them frequently. We've both only had good experiences with them.

All their sitters are vetted and the website provides them with insurance, as well as a 24 hour vet helpline.

We don't live anywhere exciting and have multiple awkward cats, some of whom require daily medication, and haven't had a problem finding sitters.

We asked the vet for recommendations and it turned out that a couple of the vet nurses did pet sitting - local and at least they will know what they’re doing. We did pay though (£25 per day)

I've used Trustedhousesitters twice. I live in a standard terrace house in a nice part of London and have four pets - two dogs and two cats. I get multiple applications.
I'm not sure about the donkey - does it need someone with experience?

I'm a sitter with THS but I would not accept a sitting like yours, as it would be too much for me. That's not to say other people wouldn't.

As someone mentioned above, I think THS is more suitable for places with good public transport with one dog or 2 cats. It's meant to be a free service in exchange for accommodation. In your case I would look for a paid sitter via Rover

These replies are fascinating

I have a very kind friend who will stay for the week and I'm paying her 100 a day as she has been extra helpful always

But good to know for the future

The donkeys require nothing really
A lot of the neighbours check in with them
