Costume jewellery of the 90’s

I was just thinking back to my favourite jewellery of the early 90’s and it was mostly black cords with metal crosses and peace symbols.
Lots of chokers on black ribbons.
Also magic eye type beads on black cords.
And the actual hologram eye pendants.
And what happened to Mood rings ? We all used to wear them and see what mood we were in that day …
I feel so boring these days , all I wear is a watch 😆

You can still buy mood rings, it's probably just that you don't go into hippy shops anymore!

I had a yen for a hologram pendant recently and searched ebay. They go for silly money now, I couldn't believe it. Remember when gold used to be cheap?

I just wanted one of those butterfly brooches everyone had. My mother told me I wasn’t pretty enough to wear one (she was hatefully emotionally abusive) and she said that it only suited girls like a particular one in my class who she thought was beautiful. It broke my heart (more that I couldn’t have the brooch tbh than the fact my own mother disliked me!) but then said girl had hers in school on a black velvet hat one day and I’m ashamed to say I stole it. I fully engaged with the shock and subsequent search for it knowing full well they’d never find it. I felt guilty and awful at the same time as knowing it was the only way of getting something I wanted 😭

to add - I felt so bad that on the school trip that year I bought some earrings and when the girl whose brooch I’d stolen was upset one day I gave them to her as I still
felt guilty !

Have seen a lot of mood rings atf estivation and market jewellery stalls

I loved those super cheap tattoo necklaces. I think they've made a comeback too.

Oh yes had all of those things!
Also "rave dummies" very strange trend!!

I'm in the US and it is ALL black cord, those little springs and silver balls on the cord, and lots of mood jewellery. It's like time travelling.

I remember the craze for yin/yang jewellery and Gothic pewter stuff - bats, spiders dangling on earrings. Happy days, still got some of my 90s costume jewellery.
