Help me with my bedroom!

Please help me with my room- I have no vision and don't know what to do with it!

It's quite big, just had it painted a deep dark blue which I do love.

We need a new bed (super king) at some point but no idea what colour/style to get. Maybe grey? Will also need new bedside tables to match. There's nothing wrong with our current bed at all but it doesn't 'go' in this room so will move it into the spare room.

Will also need new bedding and curtains too. Just have a plain white blackout blind at the moment. But no idea what colours will go with the blue.

Any ideas would be so appreciated, thank you!

I hadn't thought about painting the doors!

I didn’t want to say this but I agree. At the very least I think the doors need to be painted, perhaps with a complementary shade of blue. Bright white against dark blue doesn’t work IMO.

Agreed, it feels a bit 'Ahoy, sailor!' and the OP has said she doesn't want a 'nautical seaside B and B' look.

I also like the mink colours some pps suggested -- it brings warmth, while keeping things deep and intense in colour.

Paint the ceiling either the same or a complimentary colour. The white is too harsh.
A warm tone headboard would look good, or go for a bronze frame metal bed which would look epic.

My bedroom is a dark purple. I have wickes "chalk white" on my ceiling, and an ikea light fitting.
My bedframe is an oatmeal colour. It looks epic.

I recently changed our bedroom to navy. We have a dark wood bed with matching bedside drawers. Lamps on them are brass with black shades, give a lovely glow. Navy velvet curtains on the way. Big mirror with an aged brass-gold colour frame. Some art, big and small, some blue ceramics on top of a chalk white chest of drawers. Dark green plants on an old steamer trunk.

I agree with PP about leaning in to the dark opulent feel. I was going for Edwardian traveller look with the trunk, also have a globe 🌎 lamp. I love the whole look. I chose it as mainly in the bedroom in evenings and the glow is cosy or romantic. Also have fairy lights along the top of the headboard and some Moroccan style lamps for candles.

Bedding white in summer, mustard in autumn and spring, a navy chenille throw or mixed blues quilt in winter.

I kept ceiling white as wanted light for mornings, and all off whites I have had in the past just ended up looking like dirty old white paint.

I think I'll get navy curtains too. Need to break up all the white.

Can't decide on a bed. I like fabric headboards more than metal I think.
