Spiders EVERYWHERE

We’ve just moved into a new home, it hasn’t been touched since the 70’s - quite a large house near by to lovely fields. It’s really our dream home (fast forward to when we eventually get round to doing all of the work it needs 🥲🤪) but one thing that I just can’t get over is the amount of spiders EVERYWHERE.

Every single room, constantly there are new cobwebs appearing with big boy spiders.. often at least 1 in each corner. Generally I’m not overly fussed by creepy crawlies, I set them free if they’re bothering me and move on but these ones just have zero chill.. in the bath everyday, I got a bag for life out the cupboard to go shopping and a massive one had set up camp in there, saw one crawling over my DS’ cot on the monitor he was that bloody big. What do I do?! Any tips for scaring them off.

I must admit our windows have been open regularly in the month and a half we’ve been here as the house smelt musty after being vacant and I’m aware the farmers are out a lot at the moment but surely there’s something I can do to tackle it?

This is my version of hell!! I once viewed a house with lines of conkers along all of tge windows which is supposed to put them off, but the owner wasn't there to ask if it helped!
Could you get a manic cat that could eat them for you?

It is temporary. Look it up

As the days shorten and the weather gets colder and wetter, Autumn marks the start of spider season in the UK. It's at this time of year that spiders are looking for places to shelter and stay warm. That might mean inside your home.

Spiders do not need warmth 🤣 they are not mammals. It is their mating then dying season. They are more mobile at this time of year seeking mates, then somewhere suitable to stash an egg sack before dying.

Omg, so when I’m seeing 2 of them near each other that’s what they’re doing?! Creating babies and stashing the eggs somewhere! Honestly I’ve never been fussed by spiders but the more I see them the more I get scared of them!
