Where can I find Tarantulas in South Yorkshire

I have a friend who is scared of spiders and wants to try and overcome it by holding a tarantula or similar. Does anyone know of somewhere in or near South Yorkshire that you can hold one?

Thanks

Is she likely to frighten the tarantula if she screams or jerks about? It might be better for her to look into hypnotism or something else rather than handle live animals.

Maybe enquire at the butterfly house? I I think they have a spider area.
There is also a dead spider in my kitchen I didn't clear because I want to make sure it is dead.

I agree, its not a good idea to just hold one and as they are pretty delicate I doubt any owner would just let her.
She needs to start slowly by looking at photos and then spiders at a distance or behind glass and then maybe eventually graduating to touching one.
Its a process

Most wildlife parks/butterfly houses will allow spider handling

I was terrified and I got to hold a pink toed bird eating tarantula.

Luckily it was a very calm and placid one and she just sat there. Don’t think I could have handled it moving. Felt like an 8 legged hamster. Had the same sort of weight to it.

I should have clarified, she’s done all the graded exposure stuff and is better than she was. She wants to up her game a bit.

I did exactly the same many years ago but just came across a charity ‘meet the creepy crawly’ thing.

That’s what mine was like, a really chilled kitten
