Anyone know anything about phones in New Zealand?

My son is going to NZ for a few months. He has a Vodafone contract here in U.K.

What’s the best way for him to have a phone over there? Should he get a NZ contract? Pay as you go sim once there?

I imagine staying with Vodafone and paying for roaming could get expensive.

We went for 6 months, took our own phones and got new sim cards there (contract). Worked really well.

We bought sim cards as we arrived (lots of stands in arrivals). We were only going for a month but the same theory applies. He can research what's available before he goes.

Yup. Buy a SIM (probably Vodafone, though there are other providers) while he's there.
