Hi,

inspired by another thread, I’m intrugued to hear other people’s views on this… would you go on holiday if you were in debt ( non- mortgage debt) or would you have to be totally free of those debts before you considered booking a holiday?

I’m very debt averse so nope. To be honest I see a lot of friends booking expensive AI holidays, and we having a good chunk of savings so could afford £7k or whatever for an AI in August..but I won’t because it would be too much of our savings gone 🙈. I book cheaper self catering holidays abroad and short breaks to the UK…I realise this isn’t normal and I probably need to live a little.

Yep, but then our debt is all 0% and we have deliberately paid it back slowly so we can continue to save and invest.

If it was a regular car payment that was arranged and paid for monthly, I’d still go on holiday.

What sort of debt do you mean, @Rustybin ? £10k on credit cards, then no, I wouldn’t go on holiday.
