School Holidays - how have yours been?

What have you been up to with your dc over the summer holidays? I had lots of ideas for days out but somehow the summer seems to have flown by and I feel like we've done very little. I think I'm being guilt tripped by that meme that sometimes goes around about only having 18 summers with your children 😭🙄

We had a week's holiday (UK) trip to an inflatables park, Ninja Warrior, local park, having friends over and sleepovers. But in between there's been lots of days at home and probably a bit too much time watching tv or playing roblox... 😬

Mine are quite young with one toddler so we've been a bit restricted with potty training and recovery from a minor op this summer. We've been to Hobbledown, some days out in London where we live, some theatre shows, a week in Devon, a week in Europe, some big soft plays. Not done a beach trip though and we wanted to go to Whipsnade as we have zoo membership, but not had the chance. Primary aged dc has done camps in drama, dance, forest school, some tennis lessons. It's been busy but they've had plenty of down time.

This holiday has been crap, mostly because DM has been on end of life care for the vast majority of it. We've been dealing with that, emotionally and physically, and my DC have spent quite a lot of time in the care home. I've also had to leave them with DH quite a bit, which has been strange for me.

But we've still done a few things:

  • Swimming most weeks (plus normal lessons)
  • Beach
  • Bounce house place
  • Farm park
  • Normal park
  • Geocaching
  • Library once a week (normal for us)
  • Garden centre
  • Weekend at PIL with DH
