Ideas for nice gifts for my niece who is heading off to university.
Nothing pricey maybe about £25.

I got DD a nice tin and added things like

Sellotape, blutak, pins, screwdrivers (came in handy) spare medication headache tablets, hay feaver tablets, spare inhaler , pegs - only a few - string, matches, sewing kit - needles and spare thread, safety pins, pencil sharpener, coins for the driers and washing machine, gift card for supermarket, etc photo of us all together -

A lot was £ shop buys - nothing expensive but useful.

Its a junk drawer in a tin!

She loved it. It has come in handy over and over again.

Many halls use a laundry app instead of cash, could offer to put some money into that.

We decanted herbs and spices into small bags for DS, saved him money and space as that is very limited in the kitchen. You can get some bags designed especially for that purpose which might be nice as a gift

Deliveroo, Uber eats, just eat, or Costa, Starbucks cards. Even if you think it's not their thing now, it will be half way through term.

My fallback for students in the family is the Meg River's tuck box, usually timed to arrive for midway through the term, when the fifth week blues might strike.

That's a bit more than you were thinking of, but what about a nice tin of biscuits, to share a round in her first few days and weeks?

Another thought I had was a collapsible Stojo coffee cup. Lots of universities have discounts if you use your own cup, and these take up hardly any space in a rucksack and can be collapsed and sealed after use so you don't get any coffee in your bag before you get chance to wash it.
