I am thinking of reporting an historical crime to the police, not so much because I think the person can be found (I just have a name) or that there will be closure, but more in the off-chance that this person's name may be known to the police for related or other crimes.
But I am not sure how to go about it! It does not warrant a telephone call as "a crime happening now" and going to a local police station would not make sense, as it happened in another region. Any advice?
One important thing to note is that it happened in Scotland, so it would be Police Scotland. But I thought anyone posting from England might be helpful in explaining procedure, in case it is similar, which would give me something to go on for Scotland...
