'Old school' films my teens will enjoy

Having a family movie night tomorrow. Girls are 13 and 15.

Any suggestions for classic ("old school") movies we could all enjoy?

Thinking something like Labyrinth (seen lots of times!).

The kind of stuff we would have watched in the 90s/naughties.

Already watched Dirty Dancing, Grease, Back to the Future etc.

These are all EXCELLENT!!! Making me nostalgic.

We've seen a small number of these but loads to try.

Think we'll try The Breakfast Club Smile

Misery

Absolutely love this film but I don't think it's suitable for a 13 year old. I can't even get my 15 year old to watch it with me yet

I watched it recently with dd and we both hated this scene. Kind of put a different spin on nostalgia.
Drop Dead Fred and The Princess Bride would be my suggestions

C1N1C · 25/08/2024 21:02

Robocop

Not really suitable for 13 year old.

Ilovemyshed · 25/08/2024 21:08

C1N1C · 25/08/2024 21:02

Robocop

The original uncut is horrific at the start.

backaftera2yearbreak · 25/08/2024 21:08

Look who’s talking
father of the bride
3 men and a baby
3 men and a little lady

Ilovemyshed · 25/08/2024 21:08

Baby Boom

DeccaM · 25/08/2024 21:08

Dead Poet's Society (some very heavy themes which a 13-year-old might not be quite ready for, but I'll bet the 15-year-old would love it)

Raiders of the Lost Ark and the other Indiana Jones films

Witness

A Room with a View

Chariots of Fire

A Fish Called Wanda

Election

Groundhog Day

The Usual Suspects

I realise that none of these movies are anything like Labyrinth, but maybe you'll find something here to enjoy!

MouseofCommons · 25/08/2024 21:09

Go back even further and watch The Belles of St. Trinians if it's available. Alistair Sim is a comedy genius. My dc loved it!

PatchTheGiantStuffedDog · 25/08/2024 21:14

Building up a great list here, thanks all!
