Does anyone give their correct name when they have to register for free WiFi?

Oh god no. I usually come up with something puerile that makes me giggle because although I'm in my 50s I'm also a child. If it's a service that requires a valid email address then https://10minemail.com/ is handy.

Nope, I don't even use a name, I normally just type "Dkfueu Kxeudus" or some other random group of letters. Also don't use my actual email address, I use https://temp-mail.org/ it's basically the same as what above poster recommended

I just put a single letter in each field that's mandatory. Can't be bothered typing any more than that!

I do this to prevent extra spam.

I only use free WiFi when I'm in hospital with DC3 (a few times a year, planned admissions).

Have to verify email address so I always put correct details.

I have an alter ego that I always use for anything that asks for a name and it’s not essential to give my real one. I also have a specific email address I created precisely for purposes like this (or in shops where they demand your email for the receipt - though I usually tell them I want a paper receipt). I also give a fictitious postcode when they ask for one.

I don’t want to be spammed by all and sundry so while it might seem odd I do think it’s perfectly logical not to give out my real details.
