Does anyone know what I can do with photo negatives?

As in the title really, I've got a ton of photo negatives from over the years, but I'm not sure which is the easiest and cheapest way to either have them developed into photos, or to at least be able to see them as a photo before choosing which ones I want to print off.
Thanks

You can have negatives scanned to give you high res digital images. It might get expensive if you have loads though. For example: https://mrscan.co.uk/product/35mm-negative-scanning-jpg

What happened to the original prints when the film was developed? (Just being nosy!)

35mm Negative Scanning to JPG

35mm Negative or Positive Scanning Service to High Definition JPG. Negative, positive or monochrome

Thanks for the link, I'll look into that.
I've not got some of the originals unfortunately, as some have been lost and some my ex took of our kids when we separated.

I was also wondering if I could go into a photo lab kind of place and see if they could scan pics there and then for me to see.

It wasn't exactly cheap , but I got lots of my parent's old Diaz and negatives digitised. It's great to see them on screen, then you can pick which ones to print.

There may be other cheaper providers, these just happened to be closest and easy to deal with.

Can you no longer buy the magnifiers so you can view them yourself?

Used to get negative albums and a viewer, then you can choose the ones you want.

I just looked up, the name of the magnifier is a photography loupe.
