Anyone have any experience being delayed with jet2?

Currently at Manchester airport, flight was due to depart at 7.05. Departure board says est 12.30. Jet2 app says 10.15. Any insight into which is likely to be most accurate?

Find your flight on flight radar 24.
That was the most accurate for us.

Eminybob · 25/08/2024 09:02

Thank you. That's saying 10.15.
But then just had an update over the tannoy saying still working on issue and expect further update in half an hour. That doesn't make me optimistic for a 10.15 departure. 😭

Urghh we flew through check in and security. I knew it was all going too well.

Where are you seeing that? The departure board still says 12.30!

I've just seen that it says boarding too - Manchester Airport Departures!

My experience of Jet2 is that they are often late, share the bare minimum info and/ or are economical with the truth.

But you do get to go and meet the pilots while you are waiting.

So we are going at 3.15 😭 there was one that left about 11 but it was a smaller plane and they split the passengers up and and we of course ended up on the later one.

I will not be held responsible if I'm mildly intoxicated by the time we get on the plane.

Ds1 is autistic and not handing it very well at all. We have been given vouchers of £13 each which is barely going to touch the sides for food here.

I believe we are eligible for compensation of £350 each though which does take the sting out slightly.

We are not on the plane, still in departures.

We got stuck on a plane on the runway for 3 hours a couple of years ago because 2 separate families decided to get off before we took off. One due to a panic attack, then after we waited for security, bag removal etc, another family wanted to get off due to medical reasons. Cue the security/baggage removal debacle for a second time.
The boys did get to meet the pilots that time.

Not always - we were delayed over three hours recently but Tui said my claim failed as it was extraordinary circumstances (air traffic control)

The jet2 manager confirmed we are eligible as the delay was caused by something to do with engineers not turning up.

Whenever I go on holiday, I always go with the mantra

“If you’ve time to spare, go by air”

I appreciate that doesn’t help your current situation, and I’ve never flown with Jet2 but baring that in mind has reduced my expectations over the years 🤣🤣

We got stuck on a Jet2 plane a couple of years ago for hours in the middle of the night because one of the ground crew got run over and seriously injured by the steps. Nothing on the ground around the plane was allowed to move until the injured man was removed and an investigation into what had happened taken place.

I think I can lower the bar further.

We are flying with them next week. I just checked in online to find they have moved us out of our pre-booked seats and we are no longer sitting in the same row of three. No prior notification or reason given.

I’m not happy at all but apparently there is nothing they can do about it at this late stage.

Edited

We flew out with JET2 a week ago. Had an email the day before with changes to prebooked seats. We'd payed for extra legroom/emergency exit, but only because we'd booked last minute and they were the only seats together.

We missed the email.

At the airport, we were told the plane had been ‘upgraded’. We could sit in the newly offered seats, just two of us in the row or return to the emergency exit seats. We opted for the newly allocated seats.

On board, the stewards came and found us and moved us to the extra legroom seats, as we'd paid for them. Three seats but just two of us in the row.

Seems the upgraded plane was much larger. Stewards moved people around. Lots of people able to sleep across a whole row. Lots of couple and families with two people in a three seat row.

Fab flight! (apart from the very long queue for passport control - a Brexit bonus😉)

Our plane has been replaced by a larger one since we booked last year. It makes it particularly galling as there was no need to move us. They could have given us the same seats.
