Uffculme

Hi everyone. I am looking to relocate to Uffculme (I’m currently Somerset based). I was going to buy a house there a few years ago, before covid hit, but I wondered how things were there now? I’m happy that it’s rural-ish (we have transport and easy access to work etc). My DC would (hopefully) go to Uffculme Secondary; however, I have friends who went to that school (albeit years ago) and they loved it, but, on checking SchoolParrot, the reviews were more negative than I was expecting.

Please can anyone offer any advice as to what Uffculme is like to live in, and what the secondary school is like now?

Thank you!

I honestly thought this was Donald Trump on about “cofeve” again! Did not think it was a place name!

I was scared to click on this thread. Sorry to be of no help whatsoever!

My DB was going to send his to Uffculme but they all went to Tiverton in the end. We went to Uffculme but obviously it was very different in the 90s

Lol sorry to the first two posters; it’s not an overly interesting topic I must admit 😂

Thank you @GinBlossom94 - the Uffculme secondary hasn’t had an ofsted since 2014 (according to the Ofsted website) so I was sure how it was still listed as Outstanding?

Where are you at the moment? Where I live there used to be a couple of families a year trying to get their dc into Uffculme school. This seems to have stopped recently but I don't know if it's because Uffculme has gone downhill or if it's because our local school has improved.

I used to live in the Uffculme catchment and it was very competitive, but this is 15 years ago now. Still have a lot of friends in the area and in the village itself. We also live in Somerset and we have considered moving "back down" (family all live in the area) so will watch this thread with interest.

I went to Uffculme School but that was 1982 so no use to you whatsoever 😂(and I now live in a completely different part of the country so no recent local knowledge either). Just tickled me to see Uffculme mentioned, brought back some memories

Hi OP, I live near Uffculme and both dds went there - youngest has just had her GCSE results. Overall I think it's an excellent school (I know it's still got loads of people trying to get their kids in) but of course not perfect. Quite high achieving. Almost all teachers I've had communication with have been excellent. Traffic in the village around school run times is a pain so I wouldn't personally buy a house in the old part. I know the area really well so dm me any questions if you don't want to bore the pants off the rest of MN!! :)
