So say eg you want shelves put up or an attachment attached to a necklace etc, do you do it yourself or ask someone to do it if you? If it’s complex and dangerous eg electrical and plumbing of course I’d ask someone who knew what they were doing.

I’ve usually asked DB to put up shelves but I think I’d like to be able to do this myself. Eg I can wire a plug and paint a room so other stuff I should be able to do right?

the reason I try to do as much DIY as possible is because it’s so hard to get tradesmen to turn up! So many times I’ve taken a day off work for a tradesman to come over and they’ve been a no show so I just give up on them and end up doing it myself (usually cost neutral but I get a new tool each time and learn a few lessons 🤣)

Always hire a tradesman or DIY man. Can’t be bothered, in the slightest, to learn and ‘make mistake as I go along but learn’

I don’t have the time or will!

I do most things myself. I won't touch plumbing or electrical wiring apart from the basics, mainly for insurance reasons (so I can, say, re-seal some bits, fix basic loo cystern issues or install a new electrical switch but I wouldn't fix a leak or re-wire my house myself). But shelves, hanging furniture, basic tiling, wood care, metal care, carpeting, some basic car care etc are all things I have done.

Unless it's gas, electrical or plumbing I try and do it myself.

Fortunately it's very easy to find tutorials online if you are not sure.

That’s the thing sometimes tutorials are easy to follow and sometimes they aren’t.

All depends who you follow.
