What fresh hell is this going to turn out to be

INeedAnotherName · 24/08/2024 11:51

Three middle aged men. 33, 39 and 45.

A 39-year-old man arrested at the scene on Wednesday on suspicion of murder remains in hospital in a critical condition.
Guessing he's the one who threw the petrol. How sad he's in a critical condition (not). Hope they all rot in hell.

HelloMiss · 24/08/2024 14:18

Arrested doesn't mean charged with anything

cariadlet · 24/08/2024 14:23

As soon as the news broke, it seemed obvious that it was yet another case of a man murdering his wife/ex wife/partner and children.

Maybe the other men helped him or covered up for him. The additional arrests are the only surprising thing about this sad story.

ProperCupofTea · 24/08/2024 14:23

BBC says:
They also confirmed that the man who remained in hospital was the former partner of a woman who was visiting the family at the house.

Sounds like she was possibly the target and maybe not the woman who died. I do wonder if the 'former partner' had left him and gone to stay with her friend? We know that women are in the most danger when they try to leave.

Either way and whatever part these various men played, how absolutely awful. Yet again women and children dying due to male violence.

itsgettingweird · 24/08/2024 14:50

Yes I don't think he was the XP of the mum. She had been with her fiancé for a long time and he is the father of her children.

But I agree this is just an awful case and I hope they find justice for that young family.

INeedAnotherName · 24/08/2024 15:00

Oh... so we can infer that one woman was fleeing a possible DA situation and the one who gave her shelter was murdered, along with her babies? Chilling.

Deipara · 24/08/2024 15:03

I need to believe these people who did this will burn in hell for all of eternity.

Bluefields96 · 24/08/2024 15:10

@cariadlet

The long term partner of the victim, father to the children, was not involved and is mourning the death of his family.

I do not think it was the childrens father who murdered them - he was quoted in the media as being distraught. I read it was the ex partner of a woman who was staying with the family ?

cariadlet · 24/08/2024 15:29

Thanks to those who clarified my misunderstanding.

So I was right in assuming that it was a violent ex but wrong in assuming that the violent ex was the ex of the murdered woman.

She died because she was sheltering her abused friend. Poor, poor woman. And how terrible for her busband, having to cope with the loss of his wife and children.

LaPalmaLlama · 24/08/2024 15:34

I read somewhere that a man ( ex of friend of victim??) poured petrol on himself and then set himself on fire in the house- .that then spread to the house and blocked the exit. Not sure if that’s now been disproved though.

From reading the reports in the media yes it seems that way.

The poor family of the mum and 3 children murdered.

It's just horrific.

MoleAndBadger · 24/08/2024 15:48

The partner of the lady who died (and father of the children) was in jail. He has been charged with DV offences against her. That was how people (on social media) were able to dismiss his involvement so quickly.

FFS! Just when I was starting to feel sorry for him, he turns out to be another piece of shit.

I'll go back to saving my sympathy for the women and children involved.

charlieinthehaystack · 24/08/2024 16:07

i had the impression it was a dv situation maybe she had escaped started again but now it sounds like that is wrong, unless the ex got someone else involved to help him. it is so awful that poor woman and her children she must have been really trapped to not be able to escape by jumping etc.
i remember a long time ago there was an arson attack the children died but it has never been solved the mother screaming with sheer pain and panic in the crimewatch was something never forgotten.
i think there was another the son was downstairs watching tv he was an adult so he escaped the mother jumped but was third floor and died from her injuries plus there was a partner and granddaughter who died as well
arson is a terrible crime i would hate to think of the panic they go through like the young family trapped when a pram was set fire in the lobby they all perished but someone was charged
