Luckily these summer holidays have gone quite quickly! However now I am well and truly and ready for the kids to go back to school! I cannot listen to anymore fighting over toys.

I'm looking forward to it. I feel like it's gone quite fast but I'm looking forward to getting back to our usual routine and having the house to myself.

WhiskyTangoFoxtrot · 23/08/2024 20:20

I'm not desperate for the start of term

But shall be lighthearted when I wave them off. And enjoy my "first day back" routine of a morning to myself with a vat of coffee

BeachHutsAndDeckchairs · 23/08/2024 20:20

Me. I'm looking forward to my dc going back to school and not having their friends here all the time or the almost constant eating or the mess. I'm also looking forward to getting back to work and getting paid again!

I'm dreading it because of the early starts and resulting sleep-deprivation. Am an owl, not a lark.

halava · 23/08/2024 20:23

I'm looking forward to it, and I don't even have kids!

Needmorelego · 23/08/2024 20:25

No. It's gone far too quickly. The way the dates fell she only had 5 and a half weeks off this year. Much too short. We've barely got into enjoying the summer and now ruddy autumn is coming......I want to cry 😭

lightsandtunnels · 23/08/2024 20:29

Aw I always feel sad at these posts. I always absolutely loved the school holidays and loved having my kids at home with me. We always kept busy with activities and spending loads of time outdoors and having a summer holiday. But then I was a teacher, so ... 😅definitely a dream job for school holidays when you've got kids (and must be amazing if you haven't got kids too!)
I probably wouldn't have felt quite the same otherwise!

eggandchip · 23/08/2024 20:41

I dont have kids but.
Im looking forward to it because i dont have to hear them shouting all day.
Not looking forward to it because they wake me when they walk past my home shouting at each other or mums shouting at the younger ones at 8am in the morning.

2sisters · 23/08/2024 20:44

I'm looking forward to the peace. God my kids make a racket and the bickering is real. I'm not looking forward to the school run and the school mums.

Ours went back this week.

We both wfh so it was nice having fill use of the Wi-Fi back.

DinnaeFashYersel · 23/08/2024 20:47

Plus we had 7 weeks this year - which is looong

Positivenancy · 23/08/2024 20:49

Yes because I love the routine.

KimKardashiansLostEarring · 23/08/2024 20:53

Aw. It’s absolutely flown by here. We’ve just done a lot of playgrounds and WAY too much screen time. Week away next week then back to school! I absolutely love a new school year, getting back to routine, new teachers etc. I’ve been a bit lost without the routine and haven’t done all the plans we’d had as just been surviving. Definitely didn’t thrive 😄 but the kids are getting so big and it’s sad. Will be next summer hols before we know it!!

mollyfolk · 23/08/2024 21:00

It's the first year where I'm sad to see them go back. I think it's because they are a bit older now, so it hasn't felt so difficult being out of routine. They've had a brilliant summer, I only wish I had more time off to enjoy with them,

AngeloMysterioso · 23/08/2024 21:05

My eldest is starting school this year, I am not looking forward to having to get all our arses into gear and out of the house by 8:30 every day!

FunkyMonks · 23/08/2024 21:17

Me the summer holidays have gone fast and not been as bad as previous ( does get easier the older they get) but it's been hard work at times trying to work from home and keep them entertained.
I will be glad to have the house back and some much needed peace and quiet for a few hours and not have to clean and tidy up so much throughout the day.

69pbiryani · 23/08/2024 21:18

Not one bit.

That’s lovely for you but it’s very different with two full time working parents, one of which does brutal shifts.

We're on our knees and sick of juggling it all.

Namerchangee · 23/08/2024 21:34

Not me. I love having my kids at home with me, fights and all. I’ll be sad on the first day back.

FriendlyRobin · 23/08/2024 21:36

I think I'd love it when they go back if I had time during the day but juggling work and being up and at school I find tricky.

I like later mornings and less stressed kids!

Logoplanter · 23/08/2024 21:48

I love the holidays, but I'm off work with them for most of it so not having to juggle childcare makes life so much easier. I adore the late mornings and not having to be anywhere. I'm always so sad when it's over and they go back to school and I go back to work 😞

Jifmicroliquid · 23/08/2024 21:50

No! No kids but I love how quiet the roads are in the mornings and late afternoons when the kids are off.
I’m always amazed how much traffic is school related.

NowImNotDoingIt · 23/08/2024 22:21

No. It flew past far too quickly. Plus, I'll go from dealing with one, to dealing with 30 of them.Grin

Tbh, I only have one kid, off for the holidays, she's a pretty good kid and decent company so it's easy for me to enjoy them and want them to last.

Alwaystired23 · 23/08/2024 23:14

Not me. But mine are 10 and 12 so older and pretty self sufficient. I've been working most of the holidays. We had 2 weeks off, went away for one week. I love being with my children. We have good times.
