14yr old DS (is autistic) hasn't had a wee since 8pm last night.

We are away in a little lodge middle of nowhere.

He says he wants to wee but goes to the loo and nothing happens.
He told me of this issue about 2pm today.

He'd had 2 drinks this morning.
Gave him a big bottle of water and just had a good stomping walk for an hour. All water drunk on the walk

He's uncomfortable and just gone to sit on the loo with a book to chill (and hopefully wee).

We did alot of travelling yesterday so was sat alot and he provably only had 2 or 3 drinks yesterday.

When do I get concerned (obviously already concerned or wouldn't be posting here).

Phone 111?? But no good signal here or chrmists etc...

Does he have wee anxiety ever? Assuming not then i'd get prepared to go and have it investigated tbh. Perhaps if you have a bath or shower there he could try in there with warm water first?

Turn the taps on, the sound of running water might help.

If not then I'd dial 111 for advice.

Yes, I've heard of this but more with constipation.

The advice is to get to A&E.

Not usually suffering from anxiety- but I do as walls in lodge are thin so I put the radio on.

I'm going to send him for a warm shower after this next glass of water....

Sheelanogig · 23/08/2024 20:12

Oh bless him. Must have been the change in location gave him performance anxiety.

Thank goodness!

I do find a running tap often has me hopping from foot to foot and a dash to the loo!
