3/4 sized bed - what sized fitted sheets?

DC’s university hall of residence says 3/4 bed. Where do I get bedding for that and what size is the fitted sheet?

It's just a small double. Most places stock bedlinen in that size.

Elderflower14 · 23/08/2024 16:35

Small double bed fitted sheets here. Amazon...

Summertimer · 23/08/2024 16:40

Cheers, do we think a regular double duvet is the right size then?

Yes! My kids have small doubles with a regular double duvet and small double fitted sheets. Two normal pillows fit side by side as well.

It's up to you. You can buy a normal duvet and it will just hang down further or you can buy a small double size. It won't make that much of a difference. I never bothered getting the small just used a normal one.

Most places sell smalll double fitted sheets now and they aren't more expensive. They are usually cheaper in my experience.Just like a single is cheaper than a double.

motherofawhirlwind · 23/08/2024 16:47

Small double bottom sheet, double duvet and duvet cover. DD has this and it works really well.

Mind you, I usually do a duvet one size larger on a double or king too. Just nicer and cosier.

CherryBombe · 23/08/2024 16:47

I believe Argos, dunelm and ikea sell them.

JC03745 · 23/08/2024 16:54

If you are using fitted sheets, I'd always get slightly larger because you will never fit a smaller size on there.

If she won't be in halls after this year definitely get a regular double duvet... it'll fit on whatever size of bed she ends up with for future years too!

iamsoshocked · 23/08/2024 17:03

Is it definitely a 4ft bed (small double)? My DD's halls had really narrow single beds. I won't be that will it? I reckon her bad was 3/4 of a single size!

I remember those days! Sleeping wedged into a less than single size bed with a boyfriend Grin
Now I want a super king to myself!

crumblingschools · 23/08/2024 17:07

I think many students get double bedding, so if they then go into private accommodation the following year with a double bed they have the bedding for that

I've started to size up now as I got fed up of sheets shrinking (even good quality ones)

Yes, much easier to find and IMO a slightly bigger duvet is always better.

Deadringer · 23/08/2024 17:30

We have two small double beds and regular double sheets, even the fitted ones, fit them fine.

StamppotAndGravy · 23/08/2024 17:36

You reckon it's 3/4 of a double rather than single? We had 2ft6 prophylactic beds a students, which could be 3/4 of a single

It shows side by side pillows, so must be like a small double. To be honest DH and I seem to have a bed where only 2 pillows sit similarly side by side.
