Anyone thinking of changing holiday plans due to this storm? We aren't camping but feel for those that are planning to!

We were going to a local food and music festival tomorrow but looking at the rain forecast, I think we will give it a miss....

Auvergne63 · 23/08/2024 10:51

Yes. I was due to fly to France this morning but changed it to Sunday.

MiddleAgedDread · 23/08/2024 10:53

No, it looks ok up here. It's quite breezy and we had heavy rain overnight but it's sunny now and nothing particularly bad forecast over the weekend.

ButtonNoses · 23/08/2024 11:18

East Mids here. The wind is really bad atm and have avoided motorway driving today. App saying it’s 42mph atm. Not sure how accurate that is.

Hoppinggreen · 23/08/2024 11:34

We are going to the seaside for the weekend and no change of plans.
Its only 1 and a half hours drive and we are in a nice cottage so no reason to change anything.
Very glad DD decided she couldn't afford Leeds Fest tickets though

Feel
Sorry for all the kids at Leeds fest, well anyone camping really.

StellaCruella · 23/08/2024 12:09

We're camping! South East. Going for it! What's the worse that can happen?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/08/2024 12:14

Where is Storm Lilian forecast to have most impact .

Goes off to search up the Weather threads ….ñ

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/08/2024 12:18

Ok I’ve looked . Says Scotland then off into the North Sea.
Rain in SE by evening

Rollercoaster1920 · 23/08/2024 13:26

The Saturday morning meet office weather warning for heavy rain in London sparked my question!

Saturday is wet and a bit windy across the south. Sunday is looking ok but not beach weather.

My son was due to be playing today but his stage has been cancelled. Sunday at Reading which should be OK 🤞

There's nothing of note forecast in my part of Scotland! winds are lighter from now until Monday than they've been in the last 48 hours and there's only light rain forecast. It ain't all grim up north ;)

My cousins tent lost its roof this morning!

Considering abandoning our camping trip! Gusts of 45 mph Sunday, although Saturday and Monday look fairly nice

invisiblecat · 23/08/2024 14:41

I went to Wrest Park in Bedfordshire (English Heritage) this morning and the gift shop, cafe and garden was open, but the parkland and grounds were closed due to the wind. They have to be careful because there are so many huge trees.

Crunchymum · 23/08/2024 15:42

I'm debating even taking the kids to their swimming lessons tomorrow (10 minute walk to the pool) so I'm glad we had nothing more exciting planned.

Next week looks very warm for us though. 27c by Wednesday. I could do without that as well to be honest.
