First time Orlando holiday

Hi
I have just booked a once in a lifetime holiday- 2 weeks in Orlando.
We are staying in international drive and plan to visit WDW and universal studios. Also thinking of discovery cove but it is approx £1300 for our tickets- so not sure if this is worth it or I can justify it.

We have 2 DC, aged 15 and 10. Any recommendations at all? How much spending money for food/tips/taxis? Any dos or don'ts.

I am honestly so so excited, kids don't know so it's currently a surprise Grin

D.Cove is the one thing I'd add to a Disney and Universal trip. Looks pretty nice. From what I've seen ticket prices are best on Black Friday so I suggest you book a day for it but hold of buying the tickets yet.

The Dibb is a site devoted to all things Disney, I have found it invaluable in planning Disney holidays. Do be warned my once in a lifetime trip turned into 4..

You will have plenty to occupy you in WDW and universal without DC, it gets good reviews, I personally don’t like the idea of captive dolphins, but seem to be in a minority.

Food onsite at WDW is very expensive, I would look at menus before you go to avoid a shock when you get there. On ID restaurants are much cheaper, but there’s the cost of time, traffic around Orlando can be awful and getting between places can take a long time.

I think you'd have enough to do with Disney world and Universal. We went for 3 weeks and just did these. You are going to want some rest days by the pool. We used touring plans for the crowd calender to work out what days to go where. When are you going? So exciting. We're saving to go back again.

Oh and portions were massive, so have a look at the kids menu for yourself in the parks. I always found them more than enough. Do a Walmart order to your room for water, fruit and breakfast. $6 for a bottle of water and $4 for a banana in the parks.

Do you really want to give Seaworld your money?

also ‘once in a lifetime holiday’ is the biggest lie here. You’ll get hooked!
