SAD lamp…. Does it work for you?

Hi, diagnosed with bipolar but have realised that the weather plays a big factor in my mood changes. When it’s dull/grey/raining my mood is low so I was wondering whether a SAD lamp might help with this.

Those of you who have a lamp…. Does it help with your mood?

thanks.

The lumie brazil lights used to work an absolute treat for me and got my right through winter all cheery. Just in the last couple of years I've started getting headaches from them, but I get that from lights a lot. I would really recommend these lamps. I have three now.

@IAmFlyingThisPlane thank you, I will look into those.

I have a light alarm clock (alongside my phone alarm) and it's a game changer. Most days I'm awake before my alarm goes off and I definitely benefit from the light in the mornings.

I have a daylight alarm clock and then a daylight lamp which I sit next to with my tea every morning. I got it because I was struggling to feel alert particularly over autumn and winter. And I have found that it does help.

Love my lumie alarm and if I forget to set it I feel all groggy and depressed.

Yes! I use mine doing hair & makeup in the mornings so it does double duty haha! Really makes a difference in the days with gloomy mornings and early evenings.

I would recommend it. In my case it’s worth using and it offers partial relief. I still struggle through winter though. I still crave the light and the warmth

I’m loving the idea of having an alarm clock one, I really struggle to wake up in the mornings. @Stellisee doing hair and make up at the same time sounds like s great idea.

how bright is the light?

This is the one I have. Its bright enough to use to get ready in the morning without another light but turns on gradually so wakes you up gently.

@Bobbiepin sounds like just what I need. Does it help to improve your mood?

Not really, no. I tried it with optimism but sadly didn't do much for me.
