A couple of months ago i had a nail in my tyre, i took it to the tyre place and left it there while i popped to the shop.
They rang me and said they couldnt find the wheel nut, i told them i always keep it in the glove box, they said they couldnt find it but will have another look.
They rang me back again and said they cant find it, i said i dunno why they cant find it i always leave it in the glove box, its only them and another garage that touches the car, its been in there 4 years, i leave it in the car. and they said they will try another way.

i pick up the car and i needed to get to work so was rushing, (i asked them to check the other tyres for nails, and change if necessary ) so didnt clock any price when i paid.
After work i looked at the receipt and they charged me 60 for getting the wheel of and they broke the covers off.
i was annoyed at myself and that i didnt check it out before i paid and left but i dont like asking questions at the garage so just wanted my car and to go.

ive just put my car in another garage for its mot and they have found the wheel nut stuck between the seat and seat belt.

im so glad its been found but now i cant help but think that the tyre place took it out the glove box and dropped it!

what shall i do now? just leave it or email the other garage and let them know.
theres no way to prove it was lost, just that the mot garage found it. also the tyre garage is suppost to be a good garage so would you use them again?

I think its unlikely the tyre place had the wheel nut, dropped it without realising and then say they couldn’t find it - surely they’d just have known it was in the car and looked for it?

I think it’s just one of those things, and it’s found now. I don’t know what you’d achieve by calling them? To say what? It’s been found now?

I’m not sure what you’re asking. You have no comeback on costs because you didn’t query the bill at the garage at the time, and, as you say yourself, there’s no way of proving who dropped the wheel nut down the side of the seat or when. Don’t use that garage again if you weren’t happy with the service, obviously.
