Need to do a workout on holiday or I won't cope

SoggyCrackers · 22/08/2024 08:18

I rely on 15 minutes of going on my exercise bike most mornings, just so I can get some endorphins that will see me through the morning. I'm going on a UK holiday with my children, I'm a single parent so can't leave them to find a gym or class etc.

Can any recommend a YouTube vid I could follow for some exercise just to get me out of breath for 15 to 20 mins?

Thanks

Anything from Madfit is good for short bursts.

coffeenootropics · 22/08/2024 08:26

i used to take mine to the gym. They’d sit in corner with ipad, and i’d do 30 mins

worked really well

coffeenootropics · 22/08/2024 08:26

I used to do things like an accumulator workout when I could only workout in a hotel room.
So, e.g. Write out 10 exercises you can do, and then for an accumulator you do:
Star jumps for 30 secs
Rest for 30 secs
Star jumps for 30 secs and burpees for 30 secs
Rest for 30 secs
Star jumps for 30, burpees for 30, squats for 30
Etc etc until you're doing all your exercises for 30 secs one after another or until you run out of time.
Loads of body weight exercises you can do - plank, sit ups, jump squats, lunges, running on spot, high knees, tuck jumps... Or can add in dumbells if you have them (or use bottles of water) and do bicep curls, shoulder press, bent over row etc.

Madfit of Kayleigh Cohen, they both do no equipment short workouts.

windsorlily · 22/08/2024 08:35

Lucy Wyndham-Read on YT is ex military. She has lots of short (5/7 min) videos, I always end up nice and hot and sweaty very fast. Great if you don't have much time.

Civilservant · 22/08/2024 08:39

Will there be a pool? Fast swimming?

Flourpowwer · 22/08/2024 08:39

Can you just do an active holiday? We are just back from holidays and while we ate and drank copious amounts we made sure to do tonnes of exercise including the kids in it. Swimming, cycling, canoeing, walking trails, DH runs so the kids went once or twice for part of his run if they wanted to, at least a couple of hours per day. We exercise a lot at home too as do the kids.

DreadPirateRobots · 22/08/2024 08:41

Caroline Girvan has some bodyweight only workouts. Any kind of HIIT will work to get you sweaty and give you an endorphin boost and generally doesn't need kit. Try looking for Tabata workouts for a short and sharp pulse raiser.

Flibflobflibflob · 22/08/2024 08:44

I did a “grow with jo” bingo wing workout for 20 minutes, I was in agony, no weights so easy to do anywhere. There are quite a few bodyweight exercises on youtube or short cardio if you prefer that.

SoggyCrackers · 22/08/2024 10:18

Brill thanks for the vid siggestions, I'll search all of them.

It's just an air BnB cottage near a beach, so no pool or gym. And no desire to have an active holiday really, I just need a quick blast of exercise as part of my morning routine. If it's warm enough ill definitely swim in the sea and we'll be doing lots of long beach walks.

LIZS · 22/08/2024 10:28

Are there an outdoor adult gym areas in a local park? You could work out while the dc play.

Wishimaywishimight · 22/08/2024 10:50

What about skipping? I always bring my cordless skipping rope on holiday, even 10 minutes in the mornings before I shower gives me a burst of energy.

Longhotsummers · 22/08/2024 10:57

Annie Deadman has lots of videos on YouTube that would be suitable.

rwalker · 22/08/2024 10:58

The hitt company do 20 minutes workout majority need a step but you can modify
and there’s no equipment ones and hitt cardio

really easy to follow lively bouncy music
voice over counts u in and counts u out also tells you the exercise
loads on YouTube free

SoggyCrackers · 22/08/2024 11:43

@Wishimaywishimight now there's a thought! I'm going to order one. I like the thought of skipping when can't bethored to go through the selection process of choosing a YouTube vid.

Get fit with Rick is another easy to fo fun workout no equipment needed. He's easy to find on YouTube.

Wishimaywishimight · 22/08/2024 12:27

@SoggyCrackers The cordless ones are great once you get used to them - saves tripping over a rope every now and then!

There are actually skipping YouTube videos also which are pretty good - just helps to vary things a bit, insert some other cardio between skipping etc.

Summervibes24 · 22/08/2024 12:31

I take a resistance band with me on hols. Also how old are the children? Can you run around the cottage in a loop for 15 mins whilst they are inside? Or failing that running up and down stairs is quite a good workout.

Oldermum84 · 22/08/2024 12:47

I watch Emkfit on YouTube.

BashfulClam · 22/08/2024 17:16

Get fit with Rick is really good.

spikeandbuffy24 · 22/08/2024 17:24

juicydroppop · 22/08/2024 17:26
