… and today I did the first push up I’ve ever done in my life!
I just wanted to share and I’m alone. I’ve been one of those people, even at a size 6, with nowhere near the strength. I struggled with modified push ups even. I’ve never done a pull up either or anything with upper body strength, despite being slim and reasonably fit in the past. Tried in my teens and twenties in many classes and fitness videos. I’m really long limbed and just seemed the wrong shape.
I made a conscious decision to stop fighting to be slim. I’ve added in weights and yoga, in a low key manageable way. I’ve eaten a healthy diet with the nutrients I need to feel good (and adult acne cleared slowly). I was worried about post 40 muscle loss, my gut health etc and decided some things were priorities.
In yoga earlier I was focused and they did a push up to plank from cobra, I did it! I was shocked. I’ve realised I can do 3-4. Some of you probably don’t get this, but for those who’ve never ever done one maybe they realise how huge it feels? It’s a movement I’ve never come close to, like unlocking a new level 😂
How funny to build the strength at 45 finally
