DD age 21 set off to Sweden today for a year at uni there and BA has left one of her cases behind! She has reported at the airport and they have said they will be in touch. Is there anything I can do at this end to speed things up? I've tried phoning BA but they weren't very helpful. Their website seems to suggest they won't escalate until 72 hours after first report.

She needs to contact her insurance company. This happen to a friend on holiday this summer - she got up to £600 to spend on clothes and toiletries to tide her over

Doesn’t just happen with BA though. And likely not down to BA anyway, but with the airport baggage handling -

For info ex LHR T5 I think thebaggage side is mainly (certainly was) BA in house not sub'd out -- open to correction.

It happened to us as a family, often enough that we had a rule. Everyone's clothes split between cases, and pjs and spare underwear and t shirt in hand luggage.
It happens on all airlines, but luggage can get there fast and is delivered to you.
Sometimes they have emergency clothes packs.

I've had this happen multiple times and it's always with BA.

It turns up - normally within a day or so but it's a real pain in the arse having to wait.

My suitcase didn't arrive with me either on the plane years ago in Sweden

The airport gave me a little pack of toiletries with a plain white T-shirt

My case arrived the next day

Update - the case was delivered to DD’s door yesterday evening and the driver kindly carried it up 4 floors for her! So all ok in the end - thanks very much for all the reassurance and suggestions - they were a big help!
