Handhold - Mam in surgery

Hello

My mam has been in surgery since 8.30am this morning for removal of some of her bowel due to cancer. I've rang twice and each time they just tell me she's still in surgery. I'm starting to panic and worry even more, why is it taking so long. I'm so scared

Oh lovely I'm sorry you're feeling so anxious about your poor mom. She's obviously still going through the surgery so unfortunately the receptionist isn't going to be able to give you any information until it's over. At least she's getting the operation that hopefully makes her better. Are you going to be going to see your mom when she's out of the operating theatre? We're you given any indication of how long the op would take? Sending unmumsnetty hugs for whilst you wait 🤗

Hugs. It's bloody awful isn't it?

Remember the hospital will often say 'still in surgery' because she's in the recovery room and not yet back on the ward

So not necessarily still on the operating table

I've just rang and she's finally in recovery. So relieved the surgery is over. Hopefully she'll be on the ward within a few hours they said.
