Are velvet sofas a nightmare?

With kids and dogs?
Some brands claim velvet type materials to be a superior material for family life but I was thinking leather is easier to manage, kids and DH are saying leather is too cold.

To add: I have a 4 seater 'Marnie' in aubergine. It's lush 🥰

@twentysevendresses thanks - those prices are not bad either!

I have a Ted Baker velvet sofa with kids and dogs and it’s fine. I mean dog hairs get on it but I just Hoover it every morning while I’m doing the floors and wipe it down with a damp cloth every few days.

It’s super comfy and looks great so I don’t like the hoovering and wiping down.

A real mix of views!
I've always loved leather sofas - nice soft leather... and kids like to eat in front of telly some nights, although having a usable front room with nice sofa might mean than stops - but we like the odd pizza and movie night..... hmmmm

Dogs (dachshunds) are divas, they will be on the sofa even if I swear they never will - one is black and molts.

I'm hearing don't do it!!

I love the look of the leather cricket corner sofa. Wouldn't want material as I found they faded and were wrinkled after washing and I am not a good enough person to wash and iron sofa covers.

No worries...they are a great family run company and really look after their customers. You can do it all online, but if you are anywhere near Halifax definitely go and visit the mill - it's quite honestly amazing!!! Follow them on FB and IG as they do daily 'lives' where they will show you all their stock.

Quite aware that I now sound like a groupie 🤣🤣

Oh god I am not someone who will hoover it daily!
