British Airways Flight online Check-in

I'm flying next week with BA and will be checking-in online and booking our seats at the same time.

Does anyone know if the check-in opens exactly 24 hours before the flight or if it just opens the day before?

For example we fly on Tuesday at 15:00, so does online check in open at 15:00 on Monday? Or would it be simply open all day the day before the flight?

Before the comments start that I should have pre booked and paid extra if I wanted to sit with the others in my party.
I didn't want to pay extra to reserve seats earlier as it would have added over £200 for both flights. We are all adults so no problem if we have to sit separately however if possible I'd like to be sat next to someone I know.

It is exactly 24 hrs before the flight. Recently I have found our seats have been allocated and I’ve not been able to change them but my husband and I have always been sat together. On long haul we always pay to book our seats.

Yes, it's exactly 24 hours.

Why don't you now pre-book seats for just you and one other person - then at least you'll be sitting next to someone you know!

Exactly 24 hours. They send an email too.

Thanks all, 24 hours makes sense. It's a BA holiday so there's a possibility that we may be pre-allocated seats which would be fine.

Not too worried if we don't end up together as it's a short flight, it just would be nice.
